I would never buy any GF a vehicle, especially an SUV of all things they help out the middle east with all that gas they burn up hehe save that for my monster mpg civic. But yeah I hate SUV's with a passion I would just buy a small used truck if you need to hall stuff.

The answer is easy. New 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited.

Get the V6 though. V8 pulled from the Land Cruiser is torquey, but you won't really need it unless you like to tow boats or trailers.

Just whatever you do, don't get one of those car-based utes. It is such a compromise. You don't get the off-road ability, nor do you get the car-like handling (they have station-wagons for this).

Just something to think about......................Do you rent your condo? You should probably be investing in a home instead of thinking of buying a luxury SUV. It will be better for the both of you if you do end up getting married. The mortgage market is a buyer's market right now and it is the time to get in. Also, homes appreciate and cars are only guaranteed to depreciate.

If that doesn't sway you, I would vote for the Pilot. Just realize there is not much negotiating room in the sales price and you will probably pay close to sticker.[hr]
I own my Condo. And you have no idea how much money i make. But money isn't the issue to begin with. We're basically living together and getting married sooner or later, so buying her a car to use which would be under my name - there's nothing wrong with that. When we got together 4 1/2 years ago, i had nothing - nothing. Now i'm established and have an extremely well paying job i thought a little appreciation might help since she stuck with me through those hard earlier years. Anyways, the pilot doesn't look as nice as some of the other SUV's out there, but from what i've seen the interior is pretty nice. The hummer like i said earlier is just too big and not practical as an everyday SUV. Yes we have a dog also.

Someone mentioned the new Toyota 4runner. I did see an earlier model on the road today, and it looks really nice actually. I never even thought about Toyota, but i'll make sure i'll post it in my final comparo and decision. Thanks for all your input.
