The difference is size, weight, HP and displacement.
The H22 weights about 80 lbs more than the B Series I am pretty sure.
The H22 is bigger in terms of everything pretty much.
The H22 has 5 more HP stock than the highest B series (b18c5)
The H22 displaces .4 liters more than the b18 which means more potential.
The B18c5 comes with a stock limited-slip differential which is really nice but you can get an H22 with an OEM one if you JDM I am pretty sure.
The h22 is MUCH better and you will be able to do more with it, the B series is becomming much more expensive because everyone that has a honda wants one, so demand is much higher. The bad side of the H22 is fitting it into a car. Fitting it into any Civic is difficult the 93-95 hatchbacks are pretty easy from what I have read but don't think about putting it into a 7th gen without major body work.

any civic needs major bodywork, even the 92-95 hatches - it's just that they've already figured out how to do it on those cars
well..going into which car?...staying N/A or plan on boosting it?...
the H22A drops into 5th and 6th gen vicis..but requires completely neew engine mounts and wiring..the B18's just drop in..plug and play....
the H22A (vtec) has more potential..and more starting HP. but weighs over 130lbs more with transmission and changes the center of gravity on the car. The B18C1 (gsr) is very close the weight of the D series in the civics of any gen. it's also historically a tougher engine. Many H22's burn oil and such after 50-70k..B18's can be driven hard for 100k before you need new rings and bore the cylinders again..
If you want to be original and stay cheap. Get a B20Z (CR-V) and buy some Type-R B18 heads...just than gives you 183 Horsies at the wheel using a 5th gen platform...and it'll be cheaper than getting a B18c1

I was just wondering where would be a good place to learn all about the different engine's that Honda's come out with, 'cause thos whole swapping/hybrid concept is very interesting, and if I learn enough, I might just try it one day. =)
