Trading in for an RSX?!
Why?!
2002 Acura RSX Type S: $23,670
200hp
142ft-lb tq
2766lbs
HP/lbs = .0714
2003 Ford Mustang GT: $23,970
260hp
302ft-lb tq
3241lbs
HP/lbs = .0802
2003 Nissan Altima SE: $23,189
240hp
246ft-lb tq
3178lbs
HP/lbs = .0755
2002 Chevrolet Camaro: $23,430
310hp
340ft-lb tq
3439lbs
HP/lbs = .0901
And the winner is the Camaro! If you don't like Chevy's spotty reliability on the Camaro then there's the Mustang GT. Even the Altima has a better power to weight ratio than the RSX. If you really want power, trade your car in for something with power people.

how many people in the market for an RSX are also considering those other cars,.. they're not even in the same class, an Altima is a pretty big sedan, camaro's and mustangs are muscle cars.. you should at least make the list comparing cars form the same class...
they still make camaro's?

Volkswagen GTi VR6
200 HP
195 ft-lb
$22345
6 speed manual
There beats the RSX on the dollar and in the torque department (you wanted a daily driver right?, you know... stop and go traffic, where you need torque to get moving....)
I would have bought one, but don't have enough green stuff....
well im a honda guy and will be 4 ever dont like those muscle cars or American POS rides sorry
i know some ppl trade up for power, but why would one compromise the interior quality of the RSX only to get the Ford "quality"? Mustangs and Camaros are muscle cars, pure muscle, and NOTHING else in the way of handling and interior quality.....they rattle like crap after 1 1/2 years, and some ppl think the civic is bad about that, ha! For that kind of money (24,000ish), i would not go American because of the overall quality issue.
Sorry, i dont want to flame or make it another played out "domestic vs. import" thing, because its not.....i guess i was trying to say that muscle cars are good for what they are meant for, speed, and that 24000 dollars is a little bit more to me than to some people, so i would try to get the most well rounded car for the money.

At least compare cars in the same category. A compact sports car to a family sedan and american muscle cars - wtf?
I wouldn't spend my money on a camaro or mustang. Every consider the fact that some people like and prefer the high-reving 4 cylinders to the raw power of a massive, gas sucking, engine? Every driven a gsr teg, rsx, or anything that redlines quite that high? Totally different experience from the muscle car. I love hearing and feeling the engine wind and scream as she approaches redline. Nothing like a honda engine closing in 8k and loving every second of it screaming for more....
Edit: My bad, you are talking about POWER. Yea, the american muscle cars are great for that and only that. They are nothing more than a roller skate with a big engine.
The altima, I already had the v6 family sedan. I got rid of it.....I might be ready for another when I get into my 30s...LOL

geez...those 35th anniversay camaros are WAAAY too expensive. Think of how many other quality vehicles also cost that same amount of money that will look brand new in 7 years, as compared to 12 years old in 7 years.
heres one thing you forget with all the other cars you mentioned- quality...also a 2k2 RSX Type S you can probably get new for around invoice which would be about 21k since the 2k3's are out/ being shipped. Even then, only idiots pay MSRP for a car.
If I had to choose, I would pick RSX right away. I would also consider Celica GTS, handling and braking outperform RSX. If you want more power you should go for WRX, best bang for the buck. All those cars are within 24000dollars price range

Since when has the Mustang GT been known as a reliable car? Mustangs have had a pretty horrible track record in terms of reliability.

Why are you even comparing these cars together?
First of all, the Altima is a family sedan. You cross that car with Accords & Camrys.
That leaves RSX, Camaro & Mustang. They drive totally differently... but given the same price range, and all sporty coupes, you would cross them.
RSX: Outhandles both of them. More reliable. FWD, so you can actually drive it in winter if you live in a snowy area. Better gas mileage. More comfortable. Better ergonomics. Better "quality" of a car, inside & out. Better resale value.
Camaro: Can out-muscle cars costing 3 times more. RWD, so great for drag racing. Engine & tranny can take tons of abuse. Ergonimics, comfort, and quality of car is out the window. Small front visibility. Bi-tch to park, and to get out of (largest opening of doors). Sucks gas.
Mustang: More civilized than the Mustang, but still crap. Slower than the Camaro. I guess this would be a comprimise between the RSX & Camaro, but leans more towards the Camaro and carries all its disadvantages.
But yeah, like somebody mentioned, WRX might just be the smartest answer, in terms of combining raw acceleratoin with some quality behind it. Even though it's also a 4-door sedan, the size is more comparible to a Civic than an Altima. Much more nimble.

QUALITY, QUALITY?!
You wanna talk about rattles...my 94 Ford has been dead silent (aside from the V8 roar) while every plastic piece of my Honda wants to vibrate.
Durability?
My brand new Honda's motor mounts are already going and I don't race...it's an HX for christ's sake.
Damn, this domestic vs. import shizzot. My Ford has lasted 250K now...my Honda will probably last the same.
IMO, and I repeat, IMO...
Honda=mpg
Ford=HP and TQ

Continuing the IMO idea...what would you rather have?
1) Power
2) Fuel Economy
I bought my Honda for it's fuel economy...I even setup a hot air intake to increase my HX to around 48mpg highway. Now that everyone is discovering that Civic's aren't fast...they want to "trade up". Of course, the hottest thing on the board is the RSX. Why? ...dammit, why buy something slower than the competetion for the same price? Trust me...a Mustang and an RSX are just as reliable.
...I'm not a Ford loyalist...I'm not a Honda fan...I like what is the best.

this is my 2nd Civic I had a 95ex cpe befrore my 2k2 ex cpe, i know they're not fast & i don't care I buy for looks, economy, reliability, resale.. and the performance has always been enough for me, i don't need a 'gas guzzilin' domestic dinosaur' to commute back and forth to work my car is peppy enough!
