... it's disheartening to see my dream car wrecked like that.....

anyhow, i went to the seller's site....and found this...-->

quote from the site--> "2001 BMW M3 BRAND SPANKING NEW! It Runs & Drives! Only 844 Miles! Was in a fresh water street flood while on display at a BMW dealership. It is L-O-A-D-E-D! Still has the sticker on the window."

->"2001 BMW M3 CONVERTIBLE BRAND SPANKING NEW! It Runs & Drives! Only TWELVE Miles! Was in a fresh water street flood while on display at a BMW dealership. It is L-O-A-D-E-D! Still has the sticker on the window."

->"2000 BMW Z8 It Runs & Drives! Only 3,336 Miles! Was in a fresh water street flood. It will be offered at TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars below Blue Book value!"

My friend got a fully loaded 2001 prelude like that for only $8900, they said it was water dameged, we looked at and said, "what damage?" The water didn't even get in the car, it was just in the lot with all the other damaged cars when it happened. Great score for my friend.

it is stupid how they said on the auction save thousand of dollars by repairing it urself.

think of this if a car is total . the repair cost is more than the car itself... stupid people

you really gotta be careful with "fresh water floods" like that, the water could have gotten to the ECU, or in the engine. Also, if it seemed as though the interior wasnt touched, that may just be an illusion. If there is an excess of water on the interior that just dried up on the surface, there could still be a lot of water underneath everything, which could also cause a lot of future probs, not to mention the smell. Just make sure before you jump into something like that. I can't really see why a 2001 prelude was sold for only $8900. If there was nothing wrong with it, then your friend got a hell of a deal, but I have a feeling that someone wasnt telling him everything.

not necessarily. A car can be totaled out and only have damage that is equal to half or 2/3rds of what the car is valued at when the accident occurred. Its up to the insurance company to decide that, but with new vehicles, they just total them rather than fix them if the repair estimate is high enough. It happened to a truck i had. Estimate to fix was 8 thousand, they gave me 16,000 for it. It all depends on the insurance company and what not.
