Vtec

Ok, don't flame plz, im just wondering, if upgrading the ecu or doing whatever to make it kick in louder? Any possible way, to upgrade anything in the engine, internals maybe? BTW how far do you think out cars will rev without a rev limiter, or without damaging the engine. I like the vtec noise just right before it shifts gears, on my auto and all, I can actually hear it kick in at 4800 rpms but its not loud as all. Can u also upgrade intake manifold so it can be louder? I dunno im just asking. I have some money to fork out for my internals to be done, and I want a louder vtec noise, so far I saw another vic 2k1 silver, stick and you can hear his really loud, sounds really cool and all. Thx.

none of the upgrades that you mentioned are available right now. IMO, the vtec we have now is pointless. get a B16A or a B18C(5) if you want REAL vtec

Go get an intake - it won't do much performance wise but it does make the engine a bit louder - as far as "hearing" when VTEC kicks in, I guess the engine just revs louder

what you probably heard on the 01 civic was his Intake, it will give you a louder engine sound in higher rpms

Get a new more aggressive VTEC Camshaft. That should make things louder at the VTEC switchover.

edit: hmmmmmm DOHC VTEC

Where do you think I can get one? Will upgrading ecu help at all? Can you estimate the cost? Also has anyone got the V-AFC to work?

Does anyone actually care about performance here? Or do you just want loud cars

Note that this is not a flame, just a question.

you only have variable valve timing on the exhaust side. up grading the intake manifold will do jack squat as far as sound goes. the largest incease in sound diffeence you will hear is with a full exhaust system. you have an automatic SOHC civic. deal with it.
