however the altima has numbers to back it up. the 6 spd V6 02 version (with LESS power) runs mid 14.

Nissan = Over-rated their horsepower, AGAIN.
People expect the 3.5L V6 Altima to be quicker than 3.0L V6 Accord--simply by the fact that it has more torque, which in turn relates to having more horsepower across the entire powerband. In theory. I have not seen any dyno results for the new Accord V6, but I have seen the time slips, and it's quicker than the Altima.
Which comes back to my first conclusion that Nissan over-rates their engines. I can guarentee when the Accord gets on the dyno, it will have higher horsepower rated than the Altima. Time after time, Nissan, Chrysler & Hyundai has pulled fast ones on the public by over-rating their horsepower. Somebody has already nabbed Hyundai. Nissan should be next on the list.

I don't mind the Altezzas.. its the car itself I hate. It's so unrefined.. next to a Camry/Accord, this car seems light years behind. Interior bits are made of cheap materials--I've seen Jettas from 10 years ago constructed better.
Engine alone does not make a car.. especially in a family sedan.

The '03 Accord V6 probably had the advantage over the Altima as it has a 5spd vs. 4spd of the Altima.
Like someone above said, the Altima is way behind as far as refinement and quality goes.

Like O1coupe said, "Engine alone does not make a car...."
And the Maxima, man is that thing ugly inside and out.
That Altima on the picture, what a way of screwing up the car, that front grille looks like a mitsu lancer.
As far as interior quality, the Altima is still years away from the accord (just looking at the new accord pics).
The altima´s interior feels all "plasticky" and hard, even the 6th gen accord is far better inside.
As for which car will be faster... Until they put one against the other we won´t know. You have to factor in several things: torque, hp, transmission (accord has a 5 speed), WEIGHT (the altima looks big and heavy).
Truth is the Altima is quite fast.
