yeh the guy at the toyota dealership said they were coming because a few people were wanting the specifics. i didn't bother. i don't have the money...i wish i wish
I like this design:

Looks like it could be a mid-engined car
...on the other hand, that could make it expen$ive

Edit: This one would be a worthy successor to the Mk IV, though:

Naw it won't be mid-engine. It will be front engine & rear wheel drive. They will most likely come out with two engine variations--a V6 and a V8. The V6 will be priced to compete with the Nssan 350Z and Honda S2000. Expect 260-290HP from a 3.5Lish naturally aspirated engine. The V8 will be pulled from the Lexus GS430, but tweaked to produce at least 400HP (as they already have done two years ago in the retro prototype). This will be priced significantly more to compete with Corvettes and Porsche 911 Carrera.
That mid-engine is a design idea for Toyota's possible upcoming supercar. Sources say V10 pulled from their F1 will produce 450HP+. Their goal with this car is basically to outrun the Ferrari F360 in every aspect, including acceleration, handling & braking, but with a smaller price tag and Toyota reliability. You can say that they want to do what NSX did back in 1992.

No, I think it is a good timing. IS300 has been out for almost 3 years now and by looking at the sales numbers, it desperately needs a refreshening. BMW 3-series just received one, so it's approperiate that IS300 gets one too.

The IS300 came out in the summer of 2000 as a 2001 model here in the states, but it came out in Japan in 1998. So you figure that Lexus models have a 5 year model life, so 2004 seems alittle premature, but I can totally see summer 2004 release as a 2005 model. We'll see, i can see 2004, but I'd like think it'd be 2005. Speaking of this, there was some discussion of this awhile back on IS300.net. Wasn't August the best sales month for the IS300 ever? Someone posted the number recently and I thought thats what was said, I can't find the link at the moment though. Those numbers were reached though with low APR on the IS3.
Speaking of the Supra, it's supposed to share the chassis with the IS300.
