dyno related question: drivetrain loss
dyno related question: drivetrain loss
Can somebody plz explain exactly what it means and if it's related to the friction from the tires running on the rollers...
I have been told percentage figures anywhere from 12% to 18% with regards to drivetrain loss. Why is there not one accepted number? i have several ideas about it but not entirely sure...

Second, there's no agreed-upon number because all cars are different in terms of engine layout, gearing, number and type of engine-driven accessories, tuning, and efficiency.
Even cars of the same type and layout have different net power outputs.
Hope that clears it up a bit.
