I'll go out on a limb and say thats why people took this as more than a poll. Just because a 16 year old has a car doesnt mean they are spoiled. My parents paid for my car. both of them hold full time jobs and we arent rich, so am i still spoiled because they bought me a car? I pay for insurance, take my siblings anywhere they want to go, make good grades in school and donate a lot of time to after school and charity organizations. but in no way do i deserve a car that i didnt pay for! (yes that was sarcastic.) Your no better than anyone else because you bought your own car. and yes you did imply that.

I have owned three cars, I am 19, 84 CRX, 86 CRX and now 94 GS-R. I still owe 4k on the GS-R. I bought it used from someone in April. Sometimes I wish my parents paid for my car but, that doesn't mean I am jealous of the person that gets everything from there parents and I don't think that I am better then anyone just because I bought my car on my own and I pay for almost everything.

It's just that some kids out there, take advantage of what they have and don't realize that it takes alot of hard work to get some of these things. Take my friend for instance, when he turned 16 he got his license, the very next day, he has his parents buy a new 1998 Civic EX. In a matter of 3 months he has fully modified the look of the car by having it painted baby blue w/ blue pearl, Skyline taillight conversion, 5 piece Kombat body kit. Unfortunatley he thought his car was fast and all he had was a Weapon R short ram intake system and dual exhaust (dual exhaust on a 130+ hp car) sad if you ask me. Now this a poster child of a spoiled brat. Now, I know not all kids are like that but, many are. So those of us that have to pay our own way notice this as something that we are curious about not that we are jealous, We ask ourselves, is this guy going to make it in life? That is how I see it but, others might see it differently

This is my third car, it's all mine and took the 6 year plan on it. I don't pay for the insurance though.

If i have kids once i am set for something like that I would probably do one of two things, either pay for a car for them and make them pay the insurance or pay the insurance and make them pay for the car. Or maybe help with a down payment if that is all they wanted.

There is an extreme difference between being spoiled and having parents who are willing to offer a safe econo-car vehicle as an incentive for getting good grades or whatever reason it may be. I say if you have the money to spend on your kids like that, do it. I would. But not to spoil them. If I have kids who decide to be a$$holes for their life, are they getting a car? no. I'll make sure they know the value of a dollar first and are respectful and then reward them for it later. And yeah, i would expect any kid of mine to have a job. Maybe not a super amount of hours, but at least something where he or she can spend money that they make.

NO I'm not hating I just think it is a bunch of crap that you cant work for your own car that you have to get mommy and daddy to spend thier money because they are to lazy to get a real job. You know what I think that people that have their parents buy their own car shouldnt have the right to call that car theirs because when u can put time AND YOUR OWN MONEY into (buying it) then u can call it ur own car. For the people that are paying for their own car good on you. and for the little kids that have their parents buy it for them grow up get a job and welcome to the real world where mommy and daddy dont cut ur meat for u anymore. and yes i hate little spoiled brats that call that car theirs when mommy and daddy buy it for them. incase ur wondering. and since ur paying for half then i will give u half the credit.
lol must have been, and guess what a$$hole, I do have a REAL JOB, in fact I've had 3 REAL JOBS since I was 16 (the earliest u can legally work in Texas), and busted my *** at all of them, I've been at my current job for almost 2 years now, and mommy and daddy dont cut my meat for me, but I do also go to a university full time which I am paying for myself, and still working 30 hours a week, how many adults can claim that? I'm sorry that my mom and dad love me and like to buy me things, I would hope to extend the same gratitude to my kids if they made me proud like I have my mom and dad. Go preach it to someone else.

Did anyone ever think that those who did not monetarily pay for their cars could still very well earn it? My 'job' is school. I work my @$$ off to get good grades and place high in any competitions I do. I am currently ranked 2nd in the state for Lincoln-Douglas style debate. That'll look pretty nice on my application to law school. I doubt my parents will be complaining when I'm making their Lexus payment.

Hey, here's a medal for all your hard work...

My father worked hard to where he is at. He didn't have anything growing up and went through many holidays without any gifts. He feels that since he was able to make it in life, he wanted his children to have what he couldn't have growing up.

So deal with it. It doesn't make me a spoiled brat.

Sonny: Don't be mean to me because you're mad at your father.

Punk: You're right you're right. I hate my father

For the POLL...LOL

I paid (pay) for my civic and her insurance.

I had a top of the line 00 accord with the v6, leather, etc....Dad gave me 12k to put down on it because that is the amt that would give me the monthly payment that I desired (a very low one). Then, my father offered to pay off the lien on the car which would give a 6 month old, 25k car that is paid for. I declined and ended up trading the accord for my present civic. I wanted to drive something I could afford and live at my level of income.

I had several nice cars as a teenager that were paid for in cash by my parents. They paid the insurance and for the gas. My point is this: Just because someone has well-off parents, it doesn't mean they are spoiled, little arogant bastards that don't know the value of a dollar.

My parents bought my first car when I was 17, It was a POS 90 pontiac grand am. But hey, it got me from point A to point B and I am happy they did. For this, I was able to get to my job and college and save up mad money. I drove the pontiac till it could go no further, so with my money in hand I set off for the HONDA dealership, where I bought MY first car. I am happy that I could afford everything by myself with no co-signer, but on the otherhand, I don't really care how others have come to own there first car, its still there's. Just like I am sure that you don't care how I have come to own mine. (well not own yet, still 4 years left:cry I also by all my own parts, with the exception of a few gifts.

Everyone knows you are just taking a poll. You brought in on yourself with your original post that was whining about young kids having the cars bought for them. So, don't whine more now about how you are just taking poll when I can post YOUR reply that started the whole thing. Now, who needs to grow up. Oh, go brush your teeth because I can smell your breath from here.

Haha. Didn't know if anyone would catch that. That movie is one of my top 3 favorites. I also left out the "Fawk you mom & dad!" that came before that. I think I'm gonna go watch it now.
