Honda Reliability.
For people who thinks Hondas are made in Heaven...
Here's a list of recalls on Hondas in the past few years.
25,765 - 2000 Acura 3.5 RLs, brake switch contamination
2,900 - 2000 Acura TLs, air bag problems
16,459 - 2000-01 Accords & Civics, seat belt assemblies
6,744 - 2002 CRVs, Faulty seat belt pretensioners that can lead to seat belts unbuckling
295 - 2001 Civics, throttle body contamination
8,168 - 2000-02 Acura 3.2 TLs, incorrect part replacement from an earlier recall of 9,034 TLs recalled due to faulty seat belt latches (a recall from a recall, lol!)
56,269 - 2001 Civics, corroded fuel pump
120,649 - 2001 Civics, fuel line could disconnect from fuel tank
78,910 - 1998-00 Odysseys, instrument panel lights fail
19,540- 2000 Accords, rear suspension's lower control arms could break due to improper welding
7,085 - 1999-00 Odysseys, sliding doors not riveted properly.
Don't get me wrong, Honda makes great cars with excellent quality, but for those that always bash other car companys without a lick of research, here's something to read about.

Yea, honda has recalls just like everyone else. However, Honda and toyota make the best cars period. This is a fact. YOu can post recalls and anything else you would like but the fact remains. No one ever said that they were made in heaven. Just about the closest you can get to it.

Great, you pointed out that nobody's perfect. And Honda is Not.
But there are worse thats all. I use to be a die-hard VW fan.....untill I had repairs that cost me thousands. Then I decided reliability was my answer.
If anyone read JD power and Assc. "best used cars to buy" on MSN a few days ago.......I can't find the article......but they tested all cars (obviusoly not "all") but anyway......that were 4 years old.......
Acura and Honda were at the top of the list.
For best luxury......Lexus won.......best compact.....Honda won........
Of course every car company have problems.........and yes there are some Honda owners that think they're cars are demolition proof. BUT Honda is up there as far as reliability.........
It's true, and it's been proven. Thats that.

Look at the quantity of cars recalled... all but 1 or 2 are under 100K cars. Also, most of those seem to be in the 1st or 2nd year since a redesign, and most of them are just ironing out bugs. Look at a Domestic recall list. Very few are under 100K cars, and typically involve major problems over a wide range of years. The GM SUV front suspension recall, the Explorer/Firestone recall, and the Dodge minivan tailgate recall come to mind.

1997 Prelude - 2 recalls, 62 TSBs
1998 Prelude - 2 recalls, 42 TSBs
1999 Prelude - 1 recall, 34 TSBs
2001 Integra - 1 recall, 2 TSBs (too bad the cancelled it)
Sorry, nothing on the RSX...though it does have 5 TSBs out already...
Many times, a recall doesn't mean the part is really defective. Take the ignition switch recall, for example. One or two cars had their ignition switches short out while they were driving, so Honda gets paranoid and decides to do a complete recall on all of their cars that use that particular ignition switch. Almost half of all the repair order tickets I've seen around our dealership are either for the ignition switch replacement or have the ignition switch recall line added on (i.e. a customer comes in for a 30k service and if their car is on the list for the ignition switch recall, we go ahead and do the ignition switch replacement free of charge).
A single ignition switch recall pays the mechanic 0.4 hours, and if you add it up it's still small chump change to Honda of America vs. the cost of a lawsuit because of an ignition switch failure (however remote the possibility of that occurring is).

Slow compared to what? A GT Mustang? Corvette? With a 5 speed manual the Civic is very competitive in quickness to other cars in the same class and the Civic has one of the smaller engines. As far as automatics - an auto Civic, Corolla , Sentra , Focus, Lancer or Protege will all be slow compared to the same cars with 5 speed manuals. If someone wants a truly fast car they should not choose an economy car with 1.7 four cylinder to begin with.
