Why is the third brake light here?

i always wondered that too. i think its not just a phillipines thing, its like that in asia and i think europe in general.

several cars in europe have that lower break light also, if i remember right it was like a fog break light. most german cars in europe have that also, its not just a phillipines thing.

I don't think that's even a brake light. I believe it just lights up when your lights are on, or it has a seperate switch. it serves the same purpose as the front fog lights

I actually saw something like that on the back of a pickup truck a few days ago, but it didn't look red and it didn't light up when they braked. I was thinking it might be one of those lights people use to **** of tailgaters...once I saw some old beat up car with two of those things mounted on the trunk pointing directly back...the first word that came to mind was "loser"

d00d, that's the pickup bed light. Most new trucks have them now.

If you ever see a pickup with a fog light mounted on the back bumper, chances are they use that to help hitch up trailers at night.

I thought it was a European thing

and mainly Europe people do it because they have such narrower roads
people park on the right side of the road, and so there is not that much room
so with the reflector/light, your car would be more visible at night.

I also thought I heard some where that some people leave their parking lights on just for that reason.

Intruder was absolutely correct, i was in Greece for vacation last summer and i saw a 2k1 sedan with the same thing, so i asked my cousin why it was down there and he told me it's a fog light that they use in europe.
