Rip Off at Subaru

My civic was wrecked and I went to get a WRX. The dealership let me take the one I wanted home saying there were confident that they could get me approved at a decent rate with my good credit. So I go back in the next day to sign the papers and their trying to give me an 18% rate! So I give em the finger and go straight to my honda dealership and pick up an Si at 8.9%. Now I know an Si isn't near the calibar of an WRX but with an 18% rate it just isn't worth the 67 extra hp.

Sounds to me that the dealership was trying to make some cash off your @ss.

God damn, that is fvcking robbery. I don't blame you dog. I would've done the same $hit. My interest rate is 6.5% so I am happy with my civic.

Subaru has horrible interest rates on loans and leases. The lease on a WRX is more than for a fully equipped Lexus IS300... I know this because I looked at getting a WRX to replace my IS3, but the lease was more for the WRX!! Yet the IS3 costs $10k more!! Needless to say, I didn't get the WRX and got my Civic instead. I believe the rates are so horrible because Toyota and Honda Financial are much larger companies than Subaru Financial.

Should have tried another dealer.....?

My friend just purchased a 2k3 WRX for $23k + 5.9% apr. They don't have the best credit ever either.

i was able to get approved for 11.9% and i didn't have any credit at the time. but that put the car out of my price range, and i couldn't drive stick, so i got a civic. if i were you i'd try another dealer also.

My credit union will only finance for in state cars. Their in Cali i'm in TX so that was out. And I did tell them about the better rates I could get from Honda or about any other dealership. They said my credit wasn't good enough. I guess Honda thought it was.

probably the price difference-makes you more of a risk to a bank thus the high interest rate

i was first going to get a neon r/t a 1.5 years ago when they had 0% apr.. the dealer said i did not qualify for 0.0% and they offered me 12%. i walked out off dodge & next door to honda and drove an ex. they gave me 3.9% and i signed the papers. dealers and financing companies need to be a little more flexable. the people who need the 0% interest never qualify. its kind of an elitist marketing paradox.

I wish we had those financing rates here (Mexico), the lowest you can get is 10apr, some go up to 26apr, that is highway robery but cause every one has those rates you can't go with another dealerchip, you end up paying a car and a half.............
