Im just kinda wondering if any DC5 Type R's have been turbo'ed yet. If anyone knows of any ones that are, how many psi they runnin, and what gains they getting, it would be appreicated.

Type Rs? Turbo and Type R is something that I've heard doesn't match as well as other forced inductions (especially nitrous), but I heard some people have done it anyway without blowing the engine. I'm GUESSING that the compression was either dropped or they're not running much psi through a turbo for the older B18c5 engines. I just don't know (it sounds like B.S. to me)... it's something I see people have "claimed" to do with the older ones. Now I'm curious about the compression ratio in the new K20A which I thought I had somewhere around here... IMO, it would be a waste to use forced induction on a B18c5 to make it faster which is why there's the c1. If the K-series is like the B-series, I say the same about that for the A and A2. If it was for drag, then I just wouldn't touch a Type R for that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that's right. Aren't you planning on doing the K20A swap with your Civic? From what I know, I don't know of ANY performance parts for the new DC5R's K20A nor anything aftermarket (except from maybe Spoon or Mugen but turbo?). If you find anything, let me know because I'd be very interested. I don't think a company would be interested in making a turbo for an engine that's already fixed up by the factory with parts that raise the compression ratio but that depends on it's ability to take boost. On clubrsx.com, I only know of one person who actually imported a DC5R. I dunno... though the car has been out in Japan since 2001, it seems kinda early to easily find out unless you happen to have connections in Japan. That would be an easier way to find out.

Well, I know that Toda has/ or is coming out with a $hitload of parts for the k20a motor. Toda Parts Thats all I have been able to find for the actual type r motor, but Im guessin that there will be parts available in the future. Also, yeah i am the one doing the k20 type r motor swap cuz I sick and tired of my d17. Well, thats about it. Hope this helps you.

I definitely went over TODA Racing's Type R inspired Type S and to say the least, it's my favorite Type S, hehe. I know the gains for the Type S are pretty promising but for the Type R, I've yet to see. Removing the "i" from VTEC should be quite interesting. TODA can benifit for being known to the U.S. market since they build parts for the Type S but otherwise I've yet to see any highly modified DC5Rs.

The compression ratio for the K20A (Type R) engine is 11.5 (which I think is higher than the 98 Spec B18c5). You sure you wanna turbo that? I don't think companies in Japan would be interested in boosting a Type R Integra. Respectfully the engine helps the car do what it does stock well for it's most popular use on the track and while improving upon it is nice, to significantly try to make it faster would be completely useless. The engine just was never made for it. It's why most companies stick with all-motor parts, bolt-ons and suspension upgrades for people who wanna try to bring out the best in the car.

I personally think it would be awesome to watch a 7th Gen Civic coupe have the all-around abilities of a Type R on the track. If I had the cash, I'd definitely do it just for that. It would be the *perfect* upgrade for my style of driving. What can I say, I'm inspired and impressed by it.

But if you're serious about a turbo, perhaps you should just get the K20A2? Or just turbo your D17?

you will be fine dont worry! i heard someone who turbocharged his RSX-S took 13PSI of boost......i will beleive that when i see it. i had expereince from my friends GTR R34 and noticed you can apply high boost on high compression but using the right equipment.......when it comes to the matter of boosting a 11.5:1 head compression engine you can lower the compression, but my best offfer is not to use a air to air intercooler to turbocharge your engine but to use a water spray intercooler which i dont see used allot though since it is expensive (it makes sure the fuel that goes into your engine is cool and reduces heat detonations in FI's).

Contact Greddy Japan i can definatly make sure i saw 2 Greedy Turbocharged JDM DC5 out there on the net and sure there are more!

Yea man hard to beleive, but to proof it and to show i am not making this up go and visit the Greddy Official Website.....here is where the B18C Type R turbo kit is sold thats for the DC2....just look around you will see the R signs in the strange Jap langauge or read the link itself cause it says it loud Linky.

the turbo kits for the Integra Type R (DC5) are made and fitted on the cars but seems that the kits are sold as prototype turbo kits from what my freind who lives there tells me! anyway thats cool with me cause they are made not a rumar "SIGH"

Looks like you're in luck VeNoMsCiViC.

Turbo and Type R have a new meaning... well, sort of. Don't think I'd wanna turbo one still... well... not yet.
