The perfect exit to a corner...
Here's a nice story for you... I've been practicing cornering on the off-ramps and on-ramps to highways. Tonight I've taken a corner faster than ever before and I believe that my car can not take that particular corner any faster. I came in to the right-hand corner on the left to cut across the midpoint and make the corner straighten out. That is, to make the line of the car traveling through the corner straighter for a faster speed. I entered perfectly. I crossed the mid-point perfectly. Then I powered out of the corner in 3rd gear. It was a 30mph off-ramp and I did about 65mph on the corner.
Now, the scariest part was that I miscalculated my entry speed. My exit speed was too great, but I know that our cars like to understeer so I couldn't brake to get out of it. Instead I stepped on the gas to transfer some of the weight to the rear and make the car more neutral. My tires rubbed up against the curb as I exited the corner and that helped to hold the car onto the corner as well. The curb there is very low, so no damage incurred. Scary as hell though. I must have pulled at least a G coming out of that corner as I rubbed up against that curb. It was nasty! I can't wait to do it again!

way kewl! another initial D fan! i'm also trying to learn how to drift around corners. i can't go that fast cuz my car is slammed with a body kit and i don't have sway/strut bars yet. when i do, i plan on starting on 2 wheel drifts without the ebrake. maybe one day i can get down a 4 wheel drift....hmmmm....

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I had all four wheels squeeling and sliding through the whole corner. Much more towards the exit though. That is, until I hit the curb. The curb is not straight up either. It's tilted up slightly. It's something like 4 inches high and tilted outwards at a 30 degree angle from vertical.

Theres a beast of a turn by me, its a 270 degree, 2 lane turn around on a highway, things got a nascar style bank to it and everything, its a 25mph posted limit. My old record in my Eclipse was 71mph with alot of tire squeel. After i lowered my car and put the rims on it i did it at 74mph. That turn is great for testing handleing.

Grey, take it from me, flying around curves will get you into wrecks in a hurry. I went off the road several times pushing it to the limit on very curvy roads. Tore up an integra pretty good (a couple times) and tore up a grand am pretty badly.
I am very keen at picking up a car's handling limit as a result though. I can also drive pretty decently too. Wrecking cars because you are pretending you are an indy car driver teaches you a lot of things.
My lessons came at a consequence of very, very, high insurance for a number of years. Oh well, it sure was fun.
Nowadays, I keep it under control and well below limit of adhesion.
