Just got my SVT
today I went to the ford dealership and got a estimate on my civic they told me $9600 which is'nt bad knowing probley couldn't have passed inspection, and I needed new tires. But anyways I got it (A red one) for $18500 with the optional sound system that kicks all other dealers systems *** and I will post some pictures soon as I get my camara working again. As soon as I pulled out of the lot some guy in a black mustang tried to race me but being that I only had 46miles on it at the time I said NO. I am very impressed with everything on it but the revs take a long time to come down with somekinda special flywheel. It is very quick and has alot of bottom end torque, it will also out handle my civic in the turns and stuff. Autotrend magazine says its 700ft throught the cones was near as fast as the M3 coupe (SVT 67.1mph and M3 at 67.4mph).
I just can't wait to get it broke in. I would still like to come to any of your meets near charlotte. Any questions I will try to answer.
You can find the specs on it at www.svt.ford.com

$9200 was my pay off for the civic.
I put and $0 down and got 4.9% intrest and $383 monthly payments all in all I will have paid the same for my $18500 focus as I did my $16400 civic (total loan for civic $23000 for 5 years at 9% intrest vs the focus at $23000 at 4.9%

Yea, dual mass flywheels suck *** for rev matching and heel toe shifting, but thats remidied by adding an aftermarket one... whenever that may come out.
good buy. a big step up from what you had. and better looking then a new Si.

and WHY do you hate the focus other then the fact that 99% of you say you hate it just to be able to join in the sites civic only circle jerk?
personally, i don't like the way the focus looks. But he's offline so i don't know how much hp the svt has compared to the regular focus
on that note, i don't like the way the new civ si looks but the jdm civ type r with that body kit looks decent.

its 170 hp stock incase people are still wondering.
they really did up the vehicle in every department... the suspension is better, the braking is better, the engine is better..
truthfully I'll take it over the 02 Si anyday, it'll outhandle, out accelerate it too.
for 18 grand thats a pretty good car. i duno how it holds up in quality, I never really owned a ford, I just heard all the trash talking.
I think it'll do low 15s and I suppose with a very good driver high 14s (thats pushing it though)

Well im back and I am loving every second of it. The stock HP is 170 (150whp) and 145 tq (128wtq) I did race a 2k1 civic today even though I shouldn't be doggin it (but one time want hurt) I crushed him. The 0-60 I read was 7.1sec 1/4 mile was I think at 15.5 at 90mph (don't quote me). And to who ever wants to race just leave the bottle off . I just got done racing a acura intergra not sure on what model. But he pulled up beside me at a red light and all I could tell he had done was it was lowered, had 15" wheels, greddy exhaust. Anyways we left the light and he never had a chance I left him by a car length by 2rd gear. 3rd gear had 2 car lengths, 4thgear i had about 4 car lenghts, then I slowed down he did a flyby

Depending on the condition on your car you should have been able to get more...I got my 2k1 appraised at my local dealer and they were willing to give me $14k for it.

It's already been tested numerous times.. I believe it does high 15's.
I know Ford wanted to be "in" with the street racer crowd, by making lots of horsepower from a relatively a small displacement engine (a la Honda). But I wish they just did turbo like Protege did.. and add AWD. Give it that RallyRacing image.. I think it would've been a lot faster, easier to mod, and more popular. Think of it as a cheaper WRX replacement.
Becaues as it stands right now, it gets beat by a common production Toyota Matrix XRS....
Magazine tests say the Focus SVT is a really good handler and the suspension is really good.
I had an Escort GT back in 95, the little "ford GTi" turned out to be quite a good car and it handled very well. .. And SVT cars, no matter which are always great cars. The SVT Contour was a blast to drive.
It is admitedly a better car than a regular civic, hope it turns out to be reliable.
