I Can't Deside What To Do....HELP!!
I currently drive a 2001 HX Coupe (Auto). Anyone who has this type of car knows performance is slim to none. I have several options but no final decision and could use some advice. Here are my thoughts:
- Get an engine swap (SI, RSX, or EX) Manual
- Trade-In For a EX/RSX (2001-02) Coupe (Auto)
- Trade-In for a EX (1996-2000) Coupe (Auto)
My payments are 265/mth. and willing to spend 50 dollars more a month. Please give me your thoughts!
Note: Reason for listing auto is because i don't yet know how to drive a stick but i hope to learn some time in the next year.

Do NOT do major performance mods to an HX if you have CVT. It will fail. There was a Yahoo! club devoted to the HX CVT posted awhile back, but I don't remember the address. They discussed that there.
I also have an HX, but 5-speed. I put on a CAI w/o problems...other than a MPG hit. If you want a cat-back...you'll have to get everything from header to the tailpipe.

Build an older model EF, EG, or EK and you will end up faster and will probably pay less than an RSX. Maybe less than a brand new 03 Civic too.
Edit** I own an RSX Type S and my payments are $496 a month, for 60 months, with $1500 down ($24,600 Financed).

obviously you'v never done a swap from automatic to a five speed. its a pain and its almost a waste ov money. so you should either sell your car or trade it in for an older model civic or integra, cause there capable ov higher outputs ov horsepower and they make every thing you'll ever want for them and its cheaper. but dont listen to me or n e body else , its your car and you should do wat you want to do that will best suite your needs in a car.

dude i can teach you to drive stick in 30 minutes. my grandma will teach you to drive stick if you want. its not hard at ALL. its so easy!
Whatever car you get, definitely buy a manual because if you get an auto and several months down the road learn how to drive stick chances are you'll be craving the 5-speed. then you're going to be on this site asking people how much it will cost to swap the auto for a manual transmission. as for what car, my opinion is similar to Neo's. an older model civic with an engine swap will be cheaper than a new rsx and no doubt will land you in the 14's while the type-s i think runs low 15's. or, you can try and find a gs-r with relatively low miles and go all motor on that biaatch. if i could go back in time, i'd choose the latter my .02
My friend and I tested my Type S against my Hatch, and I beat the S by over 3 car lengths. RSX-S Stock is supposed to pull low 15's with a good driver. My hatch with a BONE STOCK b18c1 should pull a 14.5. A B18C5 should be able to pull a high 13.
If you want luxury and a little more umph, go with the RSX...but when it comes to performance and power you will not beat a hatch with a swap. Especially if you got a swap AND FI.

check out Club RSX , they have many discussion about payment. Or you can always search on the net, I think it is called payment calculator. You also need to consider the insurance. It is going to be way high on RSX(for me it is 1305 for half a year)

well i am pretty sure the RSX is out of the question for now cuz there aint no way i can afford 400+ for a car...then add the insurence.....forget that. What I may due is get a 2002 EX Coupe and just deal with stock for a while and add performance parts as I go. Just gotta pick a color...narrowed down to navy, black and red.

IronFist
You sound just like, I was thinking of trading in for an RSX and refused to pay more than $300 a month. It turns out that you can't borrow more than about $12,500 or so at about 5%. Whatever the car costs over that is what you'll need for down payment. However, the bottom of the RSX totem pole, bone stock is doable. Check out Cars Direct. It is much cheaper that way. Hope that helps.
