on first glance it looks like a 911 top grafted onto the S2000 body, bonnet looks a bit long?
pretty good photoshop job............

but the journo (Peter Lyon) is fairly reliable, if it wasn't true then it wouldn't have been published?
hardtop S2K definitely has potential, 2.2 four cyl engine is a larger capacity version of the current S2K engine?!?!

there was a s2000 hardtop one model year wasn't there? at least in Canada i'm sure they did.

there was an optional; hardtop for the SK2, but that is removable, not permanently fixed
