Almost died workin on the Civic this afternoon.
Long story but its good advise...A simple precaustion can save ur life...I MEAN IT!
This afternoon I was rotating my tires... I cris-cross them so I did my Front passenger and Rear Driver first... no problem. I was using two Honda jacks one off each civic owned in my family (jus to say this off hand now..Honda jacks
) I put a jack under the front driver and one on rear passenger and I took off the rear passenger rim and im gettin gettin ready to take off the front driver's rim when I hear a BOOM! and my car is on it's rear/right chasis. I work fast and put the jack under my rear tie bar and I take off the front jack and put it under the rear passenger and started to jack it up when my car started to lean towards me then and I ran from my car to my mail box which is made of concrete and I took off a few blocks, the blocks were already loose, not like I broke em. I put them under my rear passenger and the car is stable..Im now under the rear passenger side next to the concrete and im tryin to jack up the tiebar's jack because I couldnt get enough clearance from the back of the car to turn the jack to go up, my right side was too low for me to fit then I notice my ride leaning really bad and I close my eyes and I hear another BOOM! I open my eyes to see my exhuast pipe is pressed aganst my forehead, I swivle out of there and saw one of my three concrete blocks crushed so I jack up my driver's side rear and take off my tie bar's jack and put it under my rear passenger using the conrete I had not to hold it up but to keep it straight so it don't move, this works and my rim is back on. NO DAMAGE. My axle went right into my driveway makin a huge dent and my car literally turned 45 degrees fomr when I started. My advise is always work wit someone and have jackstands to hold up not jus jacks or even concrete and DO NOT WORK ON slainted driveways.
Hope ur day was as happy as mine.
Be careful!

isn't it common sense not to jack up a car on a slanted driveway? hmmm.......i think it is.....but then again, that is the problem with lotsa people today...no common sense. good thing that you didn't get hurt, but next time lets think about a little thing called gravity. then you wouldn't have this kinda problem....
anyone could have told you that u needed jackstands, NEVER EVER SUPPORT A CAR WITH ONLY THE JACK.
not to flame but seriously the stuff you described to us was common knowledge. it even says on jacks to use jackstands. and the slant thing is also self explanitory. i hope you learn from your mistake, and i hope that all people on this board use extreme caution when working under a 2500 lb vehicle.

Dayum Steph, did you take your midol today?
J/K
You do have a point. I'd never do it on an incline, always on level ground and put a rock or something behind a tire...It's a good thing you didn't get hurt man.

theres a tire shop around the corner where i got my tires and i go there when ever i want anything, i rather bother someone a lil bit and not take the chance of screwing up something. you just never know what will happen when couple tons car is up in the air. specially on slanted driveways.
glad your ok though Bro.

...I dont have a slainted driveway!!@# It was jus an advise guys. And I do take donations for jack stands otherwise I've never had any trouble rotating my tires before using two Honda jacks.
not to sound really f'ing stupid to all of u but i personally when i change the tires like rotate them i use the spare. I rais one side and take off 1 tire then i put the spare on that. then i lower the car go to the other side raise that up tehn i take off that tire off and put the tire from the other side on there and i lower that side and then i raise the side with the spare and I take off the spare and put the tire from the other side on that side. and vis versa. I know it take awhile but then u catn F'up unlkess u dont put the lugs on then ur jsut an idiot.

Uhhh Yeah........ I'm gonna have to go ahead and tell you to use Jackstands next time. That would be ggrrrrreat. Mkay?
I thought it was common sense not to leave a car raised up on jacks... It says right on my jack "Lifting mechanism" do not leave car raised on jack."

Glad to hear you made it out of that ALIVE.
and if you EVER need to work on your car like that again, I have a floor jack and 4 jackstands. You can come over and use 'em, just shoot me a PM. Orland isn't that far.
