You'll never get a judge to believe you over the officer in a court of law. That's not going to happen in any state, period.

Get a lawyer. Ask around and try to find out who is the shizzit in handling traffic matters. Then, cut him/her a nice, big, fat check and forget about it. As we all know, money will get you out of anything.

good luck....

OH and next time take his badge number and name.... if he knows he's right... he wont hesitate to give you his information

the carmera........... My friend is a lawyer.... he said they HAVE TO check ALL equiptment before patroling

everybody is right... your better off paying shlt load for a lawyer than a shlt load for the rest of your life on insurance

That really sux and it sux even more that you can't just beat down a police officer. "They are always right". I don't know how this court case is going to go.

But don't mention that you wouldn't go over 100 because the Civic would beat a minivan, etc. etc.

How do these court cases go? What if you say you didn't go 100+ miles? There's nothing for you to prove it.

What kind of crap is that, it sucks that you just can't beat down a police officer. If you had any clue what a police officer goes through on a daily basis you wouldn't make that kind of comment. They have to put up with more crap in a single shift than most people do in a month. Let me tell you something not every police officer is corrupt, just becuase they didn't do things the way you like doesn't mean they are bad cops. Maybe he was going 70 maybe he wasn't either way the sign said 55 so he was speeding. Hey I've gotten a speeding ticket too and i deserved it. I just find it really funny that you can sit there and talk that crap about cops, but i bet you would sure as hell call them if someone was trying to break into your car right now. I live in TX, and the state troopers here have a reputation for not putting up with ANY crap, but I've never had a problem with one yet. I see them almost daily and deal with them quite a bit most of them are just there to do their jobs which by the way is to serve and protect the people, and hey guess what that includes you. So in the future put a little thought into what you say before you go and talk trash on the people that are there to help you.

to all the unecessary flaming...
as to LikeWEEEEEEEEE's situation.. I highly reccommend gettin a lawyer for this case. I believe your side of the story. to be honest, what the state trooper did was whack. I happen to know a legal company that can provide you with an AV rated lawyer for an unbelievable price. So check out my site! Linky . Just take a look at it and see what you think bout it. You can IM me with any questions at "krzy16bone" (AIM) Peace!!

Sorry about the flame. It was a late night and I was tired. The cop should have kept his composure if he was a professional and listened to your side of the story. I dont know if you were actually speeding or not, because I wasnt there and it sounds like the cop hates imports or was having a really bad day. I hate bad cops. Luckily there arent too many of them out there. Let us know how you make out! Be sure to request a supporting deposition. The cop will then be required to write a full detailed report of what he saw and did, and if he tells the truth, then he will come out smelling like something my dog left on the kitchen floor this morning! Good luck!

A friend of mine consulted with their insurance agent, and the agent told them to call the police station & ask them what days that cop works, then schedule court for a day that he doesn't.

They'll just adjourn it for another day. Plus the DA gets a copy of the officer's schedule in New York. The "cop didn't show up so it's dismissed" no longer works in New York State, where I believe this summons was issued.
