Rep Power: 0 Stock headers heat shield
: I was talkin to someone the other day and he said that for the most part the heat shield just makes your heads more hot. I am not too sure and I tried a little searchin and came up with little. If this was done could it harm other parts???

Rep Power: 401 Well, it would make sense... the heat shield is blocking airflow. there aren't any wires or anything above the header so taking that cover off shouldn't do anything.

The hotter the headers, the better. When they cool down it slows down the flow of exhaust gases inside of them. The best thing to do would be to take off that heat shield, wrap them in thermal wrap, and then put the heat shield back on. The heat shield is just blocking the heat coming off of the headers, so that everything that's vulnerable to being melted doesn't melt. Like plastic. The plastic fans are right there in front of the header, so I think they might start to melt.
Edit: Wrapping your whole exhaust in this heat retaining material would be the perfect thing to do actually. It will prevent the exhaust gases from being cooled down and you will gain some power! Plus the cat will have an easier time with cleaning the exhaust gases. All good.

Rep Power: 0 Alright I just want to put my input in on this one. That heat sheild does nothing. I really really dought that it will burn or melt your fans because its not that close and doesn't get that hot! You can take that heatshield off with no reprocussions. Think about it....if that was the case then nobody would be able to buy headers because those are open and you never put a heat shield on it. Just my input.

Rep Power: 0 I'm sure Honda makes it a habit of installing parts on the car that do absolutely nothing for you. I was thinking of removing the engine since it takes up so much space under the hood.
