The magazine you took that JDM sedan article from is VIP, a mag that shows a buncha cars that are the Japanese equivalent of "rice". They take (slow) big sedans like the Toyota Crown, (similar to the old Cressida) or Lexus LS and supe it up with body kits and such. Don't get me wrong though, Cedric's got a lot of power. I just never like the style VIP shows, they overdo the body kits and panels.
The Cedric's/M45's a real nice car.
I think the M45 looks a little cooler than the one in Japan. I'm guessing more power since for US since there's no 280 HP restriction here?
I've been wondering though Q45 and M45, are they the same in terms of trim? I'm guessing that the M45 is going to be a cheaper model since the Cedric's lower in grade than the Cima (Q45). But hmmm. Never know, since the Q's sellin so poorly here.

Just think of the M45 like the Lexus GS430, BMW 5 series, compared to the Q45 being equal to Lexus LS430/BMW 7 series.

Aki, yeah...I've seen the same theme from VIP: They do go nuts for outrageous cars. This Cedric ain't too bad, though...well just the muffler on it--that thing is almost on the ground!

I think they should extend the wheelbase and make the M45 as the top of the line. The Q45 just doesn't have that 7 series or S500 presence. The Q's selling so bad here too. The Gloria Grand Turismo edition is 4WD with a 260 HP engine. 340 HP here would be nice.
The car looks good with fat rims too. Some 19" inch, maybe an Impul body kit.

Hey Aki, isn't the Japanese 280hp "limit" more of a suggestion? I mean, the Nissan Skyline has to make way more than that straight from the factory. And what about the 2JZ Supras? Also, there are tuners, like Tommy Kaira, who surely extract even more power from these same cars--are they not included in the hp cap? Just curious...

Japan is actually getting out of the 280-hp phase. I'm not originally sure why it started, but all of the manufacturers were following it as a "suggestion", to the best of my knowledge. Perhaps it was a law at one time...but either way, I'm glad they're gettin' over it

Some people initially thought the Nissan Cima (Q45) would but it didn't, others are guessing the Fairlady Z (350Z) will, but who knows? They're all kinda backwards like that over in Japan.
But the Mitsubishi Evolution, R34 GTR, they're all cars that easily go over 280HP. They're all tuned-down to fit into the 280 HP limit. So technically, they're all cars that are over 280HP.
