i thought 10k was with the type-s engine, no? it was probably cheaper for htown because he brought his own motor
IB originally quoted Htown $2,000 labor (and ended up losing a lot of money on that bid), plus about $1,000 in parts. Along with the price of the engine he spent about $8,000.
If another K20A2 swap were to be done, the estimated price with the engine is $10,000.

and got prototype mounts?
No, it won't be cheaper than what Htown paid. Since IB had never done the swap before, they didn't know how labor intensive, and what a pain in the butt it would be, therefore they grossly underbid the job. They said they got their asses handed to them on this one.
One of the guys at IB said he never wants to do that swap again. He said a CRV swap would be much better for our cars - much easier and better performance potential.

How many ppl would actually spend that extra 10k for a swap, instead of selling the vic, adding 10-12k an getting a brand new RSX-S instead ? It's a lot less fun, that for sure, and not what this scene is all about. But me personally, I wouldn't have the guts to do it for that kind of money and I like the Coupe and RSX design equally.
This will change in about 3-4 years when cheaper 2nd hand K20's will be easier to get. Just like why at this moment, B and H swaps into 5th and 6th gens are very common.

well i was there when jeff was talking about this.... he meant B series engines would be easier to put in there... (B16, B18, and B20 which is the CR-V engine) i don't think he meant the new CR-v thats part of the K series family...

I just can't see paying 10k for a swap. I would sell the vic and not only buy the engine but the car it comes in. Anyhow, very nice sleeper but a ludicrous waste of money imo.

Well, I think the point of it is that the swap is possible - that alone is quite an accomplishment, and he's probably the first to do so from a private owner's job. Pretty ballsy if you ask me!
I'd love to put a swap in my car...of course it's a lot easier and less expensive in my case

Before there is any further speculation on how IB got their azzes handed to them, how I paid up the azz, etc. let's just set the record straight and say that yes, IB took a hit on the labor costs. But Jeff and I have worked out an agreement worked out where IB will be fairly compensated for all of the work they have put into this project. I have a lot of contacts at Honda and Acura dealerships, and I'm friends with a lot of shop owners around the Houston area. That's the last thing I'm going to say about this topic, so I'll just leave it at that.
Any future price that IB charges for this swap will be based on their knowledge of the time and effort needed to complete this swap, and will not be based at all on what they charged me. If you have any further questions on this, please direct them to Jeff Schaeffer at ImportBuilders (sales@importbuilders.com).

my brother keeps saying he's seen the new crv engine in a 7th gen, and that the pilot engine will fit. will somebody back me up and tell him that the pilot engine will not fit. i mean damn, it's got a V-6 engine, and we're having trouble fitting 4 bangers in there.
edit: my brother realized how dumb he is
