If it is your first ticket, I would fight it, especially if you have a few years of driving under your belt. Usually they will at the least reduce the fine, or remove some if not all the points. If your over 20 years old and you started driving at around 16 I wouldnt be suprised if they threw it out, because its your first offense. I also would just do the bottom of the line appeal, (the one without lawyers, you dont need em for that, unless someone will represent you for free. I had a lawyer as a neighbor he fought my case for a case of beer, We won, and all it cost me was 24 beers. Good luck, I doubt you'll need it. If it was a construction area,... GOOD LUCK!!!

take it to court and ask for drivers school, if its your first ticket it will more then likely be dismissed and you will pay court cost plus have drivers school and plus it wont be on your record, thats the way it works down here when i have to go to court for tickets i have written, it just all depends on your judge though. goodluck man

cops in my town tried to pull the same crap with me...flew by them 60 in a 30 while they were going the other way. i look in the rearview, see them slow waaay down, then proceed to jump the speed to 90 in a 30.

p.s. dont do this if you have any more sanity than i do.

13 over, 1 over, same thing. Law's the law, if you speed over, you take the risk.

Nevertheless, take it to court and ask for a lower sentence. Most probably tho, you will get points off your license.

got the same crap about a year ago.. first ticket.. been driving clean for 2 years ... 68 in 55.. yeah it sux to get pulled over at that speed... this was on northern state.. i fought it.. didn't win.. even tried gettin the speed reduced since it was by his estimation not radar but that didn't work either. so i got 4 points on my license plus fine =( .. this was in suffolk county.. it all depends on wat you were doin with that speed.. maybe you were passing cars left and right and it drew the officers attention

i have been reading some of the other threads on tickets and saw that it has been recommended to see if the traffic prosecutor is willing to make a plea with you. do i do this now, or at the court date if i decide to fight it? if i do try to fight it i don't even know what defense to use because i wasn't passing or anything. i was late for work though, maybe i could use that. btw, im 19 and have no previous traffic violations.

yeah some county courts have prosecutors who can help you get the speeding reduced but don't depend on that. it all depends on the judge. you can hire a lawyer for $$$$ but depending on where you are the court could have an appointed prosecutor at the court house. if you tell the judge you were running late he/she would probably give you a nice lecture on being punctual so you wouldn't have to speed to get to work the next time. the only way to get off clean is to prove somehow that you were not breaking the law by speeding. and that's very difficult. btw i was 20 with no previous traffic violations so. the only way that helped was that it shows i wasn't a repeat offender of speeding.

Show up on the date that is printed on the face of the summons. There you will see the prosecutor who can probably offer you some type of a plea arrangement. Local and village courts love to collect money and would probably settle it as a parking ticket; county traffic courts and state TVBs would probably be a little bit harder but not impossible to plea.
