Bought new Civic, needs more acceleration BADLY!!!! What to add?
Ok guys, I need your help. I have a new 2002 Civic and its acceleration is just too slow. I haven't even done anything to the engine yet, so what would you guys suggest be the first thing I do to give myself better acceleration. Someone suggested the CAI and another said get a whole new Exhaust for like $500?! I would appreciate your help on this. Thanks much!

first realize that you just bought a civic not a race car. then the only thing that will giv u any good results is nitrioius oxide. exhaust, headers, sri, will mostly just add to sound and nothing much to power. there is nothing out there besides nitrous that will give you the acceleration you crave. and if you do a search u will find many things.
You need a double-decker Boeing 747 wing, lots of yellow stickers and vacuum hoses, and NAWZZZZ!
HP++++++++!!!!!!!
On a more serious note, nitrous actually is the only thing that will drastically improve your accelleration right now- until some FI kits start coming out, that's just the way it is.

hey wassup mang...u just have to face it...our cars are slow...lol...if u really wanted a faster car should of got a different kind of car...well onto your question if u really wanna try to make it go faster...u can go for the typical intake, header, exhaust...and then onto either nitrous or a custom turbo
Intake/exhaust/header maybe a pulley kit help add a few extra horsies. Or jus deal with it for a while untill maybe, just maybe K20A2 (RSX-S) engine swaps become more affordable and commonplace. That however will probably take a while
Stop using Gasoline & start filling it up with ROCKET FUEL!!! Oh yeah, & throw a NASA windshield banner on the car. I really hate people assuming that I consider my car a race car simply because I put 17" wheels on it, new exhaust, & various other APPEARANCE items. They act like only FAST cars are worthy of looking good, such morons. I'm sure most of you (if not all) will agree with me on that.

Should've test drove first, for another $1000-2000 you could've went with the Nissan Sentra SE-R - 175hp I believe. Oh well, I chose the CIvic cuz of everything else other then speed.

I didn't say I was looking for a race car, I just wanted better acceleration so maybe I could pass someone on the street or get across the street in traffic. I just want a better "take off" acceleration. I will look into what you guys suggested, and if you have anymore ideas, please be sure to let me know as right now Im looking into everything. I have a $1500 check coming in from the government, so I will have some money to blow. Thanks again to those with REAL comments and suggestions.
