Weaving. Do you laugh when......

Hey,

Ok, I find it very amusing to cars that weave dangerously through traffic. I find it very amusing when those weaving, accomplish nothing.

For instance, if one weaves and passes by me, crossing through 3 lanes and then, when you exit you see the same car at the stop light, right in front of you.

I never understand weaving through traffic when your exit is so close, you will accomplish nothing.

Another instance, is when they pass you, cut you off, then go back to the lane they just switch, then get blocked off by a slow *** vechicle, and all he/she can do is watch you pass them up.

Anyway, I just find it amusing when these "fast" drivers really do nothing.

Ray

haha, I love it when that happens. All that work weaving in-n-out of traffic, only to end up in the same place. I used to do that, until I realized I wasn't getting ahead of anyone.

The trick is to learn how to read the traffic patterns. ie: the far left lane is usually the slowest in congested traffic. (at least that's how it is here)

The way I figure, there is a 30 second rule. If you weave into another lane, because you think that traffic will be moving faster in that lane, you must stay there for at least 30 seconds or else you look like an idiot when you move back to you original lane. On the other hand, if you weave into another lane and are never really established in that lane, then it allright to change your mind

I have a special treat for people that weave through lanes: my lights in their rear view and multiple summonses. I can't stand people that go in and out of lanes.

Yeah I think its especially funny when they end up at a stop light and you're right behind them.

This happened to me:

I was at a light. The light was red. And the guy behind me (in a landrover) was flashing his high beams. I look to make sure the light isnt green. It's not. So Im like WTF? Anyway...the light turns green...and not even a millisecond after he's all flashing his lights and sh*t. So I go. He swerves around me...gets infront. Crosses another lane. He's flying! LoL And then...he catches the next red light. And guess what? I'm right next to him. So I lean out the window and yell (in spanish) : In such a rush huh? Didn't get you too far did it? You're still caught the red idiot.

He laughs. Turns bright red. His friend laughs at him. Then blows me a kiss. (what the point of that last part was i dunno). But I'm sure he felt like a real dork. Hehe. Funny thing is...where's the darned cop when u need him? I see people perform atrocities on the street. And little old me gets pulled over for stupid sh*t like an expired tag...when its NOT EXPIRED. Go figure. Guess that's where the cops in Miami are...busy pulling over people like me instead of the real jerks.

I do traffic enforcement in an unmarked or slicktop car, so I tend to see a lot and be around when people decide to drive poorly. In my opinion, people should just obey the law because you never know where a cop is going to be.

I just remembered another funny thing about peeps weaving in and out. Here in IL, we can get these automated toll collection devices (I-Pass) which lets us breeze right through the toll both in specified lanes. I always get a kick out of somebody bustin' their azz to weave in-n-out of traffic to get in front of everyone, just to get held up at the tollboth whilst I fly by him/her with my I-Pass. Yes, we have E-Z-Pass here---works in NY/NJ/CT/PA area I think. There is a speed limit that you have to be traveling for the device to register properly though.

The EZ-Pass actually works all the way down to MD now. (I have family there). I don't get the speed limits though. Some in NY are only 5 MPH, while in NJ, most are 15 MPH. And if you are a repeat violater for speeding thru EZ-Pass, they can revoke your account. I've heard it can register up to 45 MPH, but I'll never try it... too convenient (sp?) to lose the privledge.

yea, speed limit is like 35 mph through the narrow toll both lanes and 55mph through what they call I-Pass Express (2 normal width lanes).

A former co-worker said her boyfriend went thru the tollboth one (35 mph speed limit) at about 80mph, it didn't register.

The EZ Pass system can register what speed a vehicle travels through the tolls at, but the State Legislature and the courts ruled that the MTA can't issue a summons to someone with that system. So, if you are going to fast, they will revoke the EZ Pass account.

Not really. I know in NY area it says "5 MPH"...if memory serves me correctly, they'll send you a little note if you fly throught it at 15 MPH or faster. Also, there is usually always MTA cops standing by. They are real cops with state trooper jurisdiction and run radar. If you speed on a bridge, toll, etc., they will get you and issue a summons.
