pulled over going 140mph
my friend driving a 5.0 mustang got pulled over for going 140mph and got away with it w/no ticket. The reason is that his speedometer dont work and when the cop looked at it while at rest, the needle is on 30mph mark so he just let my friend go. Lucky bastard!

QCKSILVR IS an officer....
As for ur story I don't believe it. Thas atleast a class 'A'...I got pulled over going 125 a few months back, no questions asked except for, "Get in the phuckin squad car what the hell are u thinking kid?" You don't get off tickets cuz ur needle's wrong.
Someone needs to tell ur buddie or the cop to lay off the dope. As for a 5.0 mustang... 2 of my boys got one, they are quick but they can't reach over 110mph, try again GPMarzan, this time u can use a lil less BS.

Damn.. I was just lettin you guys know what my friend told me. Ohh yea SleePer012, i love telling B/S all the time!
In many places, going 140 would probably result in an arrest. The California Highway Patrol is notorious for arresting people who go over 100 MPH. In any event, if it was possible to get the vehicle to travel that speed, I think most officers would at least issue for reckless in addition to speeding. Personally, I've never really clocked someone over a few over 100.
Im jus sayin man..140 has to be off..cmon now. I didnt mean to sound rude but 140?! I dont kno about that...Why would any officer jus let that go?..it's seriously doesnt make any sense whatsoever.

EDIT: Getting caught on the bridge is double the penalty... might seem fun to speed there but the worse place to cause a 42 car pile-up.

i second qcksilver!!! we dont even do that fast going to calls! for one we are in a city and you cant even build up that much speed due to traffic volume, if he got pulled over here he woulda went to jail for wreckless driving. and then got cited for all that other equipment violations.
my friends have performance 5.0's n i have never seen them go over 115 bro, i dunno wat kind of car he has but i think it all in ur head
i doubt its true
that and cops are good people, but not that nice
nice story though, i got a good laugh!

140 is fast, but I was a passenger in a supped up 3000GT VR-4 going 160 on the highway. I was scared sh!tle$$ to say the least. Then again we were only in our late teens so we were stupid when it comes to that. I've gotten my 'vic up to 110 before, but that's as fast as I'll ever go unless I'm on a track. Even that 110 is stupid, but I wanted the adrenaline rush.
And if any cop pulls you over doing 140 your going straight to jail, don't pass GO and don't collect $200 either.
BTW, about the CHP, I was pulled over 5 years ago going 110 by the CHP in Vallejo, Ca. returning from a weekend in San Francisco, and the cop let me go with a 75 in a 65. I think the fact that I am in the military helped ALOT, but I still got a ticket. I don't blame him. I think even Qckslvr would have ticketed me, even tho he has told me that they let military guys go as a courtesy (sp?)

I don't think so. Everyone here just says "License, reg, insurance" and at that point, the person hands over requested documentation with a military ID, police ID, fire/ems ID, relative's PBA card, etc., at which point, 9/10 officers would say "Have a nice day."
Courtesy is usually given to military, other public safety personnel and often times relatives/friends of police officers.

I have to say this is a whole bunch of BS.... anyway so JoshsRide you are an officer too?.... As far as letting military or relatives of officers go, we do that here but not for going that fast you still would have received a ticket..... I will right officers kids and tell them that I get off in ____ hours so that is how long they have to have their parent call me so I can just tell them what happened and then I will take off the ticket.... My dad is also an officer and before I became one I always got pulled over and this is what the officer did to me one time and I have always thought it was a good idea so I do it now
Yeah, the CHP is notorious for arresting and impounding at 100+mph. I got lucky that I wasn't taken into custody when I got stopped for 100+. I think there were a few factors that played into him letting me off with just a ticket: 1) He was a motorcycle cop, so he would have had to call a car (probably not a big deal) and 2) I had a friend with me, so he probably didn't want to have to take her into custody too. Plus I was respectful (as always) and he could probably tell I wasn't a dirt bag.
He was obviously eager to just give me my ticket and get out of there.
He was even nice enough to cite me for CVC22349(a) (Speeding over 65mph) instead of CVC22348(b) (Speeding over 100mph).
As most of you know, I was lucky enough to beat that ticket.
Now I usually set the cruise control at the speed limit on surface streets, but I still speed quite a bit on the freeways as traffic allows. =/
I really need to stop speeding period, but I don't know... I guess it's in my blood.
