Yeah Automatic SUCKS A$$ BIG TIME!
My first 2 cars were autos, this one is stick.....eventually I'll buy an Auto again....when I'm 75 and my only reason for driving is going down to the pharmacy to get some Depends and enemas....

while stick is faster and a lot more fun to drive, auto cars if u race around in it are easier on the transmission. just hit the gas hard and youre "racing". manual is a lot different to race in.
only problem is i race too much, i burned out the syncromesh in 3rd recently, thank god for warranty.

If i lived ina big city like la or chicago where theres traffic all the time theres no way i would buy stick. Would be ridding the clutch all the time and having to replace it like every month.

Try to prove to your parents about the benefits of driving a stick (more control, easier braking, etc.). If you have any speeding tickets, or they have to use the car, then you're most likely screwed.
Auto's are ok on SUV's and expensive cars but not on a civic in my mind. It has little power and economy car so I like to have the feeling of a sort of sports car even though its not
But yeah I would try to get a stick if you really want one.
