Type Rs were never banned from the American market in the first place. It's just Acura's decision to bring them here or not and they know it's an open choice but not the best one financial-wise from what they say.

When the 2001 ITR was in it's last year (as it out-did every other sport-compact), the only competition it had was the WRX Impreza. But now you see WRXs everywhere. It rules the sport compact class (for now) in America. If the STi is ever released here, then that would be the perfect time to release the Integra Type R again.

i remember reading about an unwritten law between american car companys and japanese car companies that japan was not allowed to bring cars here with over 300 hp. thats why the nsx is rated just under at 295 although i have also read that when actual dyno tests were conducted the nsx produces more than 300. i guess they are just not allowed to say that. but latley i heard that japan is saying "f**k you guys, well bring whatever we want over here" and the new next generation nsx will have well over 300 hp. i dunno if its relevant to this thread but whatever...just a thought

I doubt it. If the "limited edition" Si doesn't sell, what gives the right for Honda to bring a CTR here? Sure it's a better car but that's more money to bring a car here that's not produced in America to actually bring back enough profit (the Type Rs). I doubt Honda will waste their money on a CTR ESPECIALLY looking at what the V6 Accord has to offer.

It's still too early to tell for sure if there's not gonna be a DC5R here. Try December. Honda made their first official word on the release of the new Si December 2001. The Si and Type Rs are released during the summer time so I think if Acura says nothing by December (approximately 6 months before it's initial release), then no Type R for 03. Acura only said THEY HAD NO PLANS for a Type R... NOT that they weren't bringing them back. Keep that in mind... unless you can surely prove me wrong in writing.

Hey guys,

We have the type R 7th gen here in Ireland and if I were you I'd sign the petition. That car is F****** amazing. There is very few cars for the money that can handle that well. The straight line speed is incredible, you get thrown back into your seat if you put your foot to the floor. Keep on signing

3637... I don't get why so many people can't get past a name... the RSX IS an Integra, its still called that in Japan, so thats its name to me. As for the Civic Si hatch, I think alot of it has to do with that its a hatch, its only in standard, and theres only the one model which goes for over $25,000 (Can). If you look at all the RSX's (in Toronto anyway) there are hardly any type S's compared to the number of premium models.

Look thru the member's rides section, obviously everyone doesn't want or can get standard, and everyone doesn't always want or can get the top end model of a car. If they had a DX or CX model of the new hatch, I'm sure you'd see more around. Since they didn't even make a hatch for years alot of people who might've bought a hatch probably bought a coupe, or another car althogether.

And whats so bad about having a type R or SiR coupe? Personally I would never buy a hatch, not that I don't like them, but I love the coupe so thats always my first choice. Its totally a preference, so I don't understand why some people believe one "should never be made"... just because the original Si was a hatch? What kind of reason is that? Its like some Nintendo vs. Sega arguement from 15 years ago.

Without the Prelude the Honda lineup is still pretty good. Civic Si/EX for low $20k, Civic SiR for mid-$20k, the nice new 6-speed V6 Accord coupe for mid-$30k along with RSX type-S, and S2000 for around $50k. Thats 5 very decent cars for ranges covering $30k. Thats why no more Prelude (in addition to sales), because its not needed anymore.
