stock speakers??
I'm pretty sure you can't move a thread. Only mods can do that I thought. It'd be fun if I could move other people's threads wherever I wanted.
Anyway, yeah they are pioneer's. They may be "crappy and paper" but they are a lot better than many stock speakers if you ask me. I'm no expert though.
Plus, what's a good material for speakers? What's a mid-range material and what's the highest end expensive best quality material.

Usually most aftermarket speakers are a type of plastic or rubber compound (not really sure what is in the rubber compound though ) Our stock speakers aren't that bad, but something needs to be done with the front tweeters - anyone know of a good set of components that will fit in the stock locations? I'm looking to replace mine sometime soon.... thanks!

I dont know why people have a problem with the stock speakers in our car. I went out and bought a pioneer premier headunit and teh speakers handle the 27watt rms just fine, sound bettter than most of the 200+ each aftermarket speakers all teh sales guys are always trying to get me to buy. Its all about whats pushing the signal, not whats making the sound i think. Yes, they do lack any decent low end tone, but having a pair of 10's in the trunk really throw so good punch in your back when its turned up.
I was at the stereo shop today and they are 6 1/2 I believe he was saying I would love to have Boston all the way around in there but about 5 mths maybe. Yeah I am thinking Pioneer also

the stock pioneers arent bad but a decent set of aftermakets would sound a lot nicer. i recently replaced the 6x9's w/ infinity 635i's kappa's and it was like night and day afterwards. i didnt know how much mids and highs i was missing w/ the stock.

can you basically get any kind of speakers (6x9) to replace the stock ones? without getting an amp or changing the stock deck...any recommendations?
Civics come with the smaller round speakers (not 6X9´s) If you install bigger ones you are going to have to make holes on your rear deck.
The OEM speakers arent that bad until you put something else and compare. I broke one of my rear speakers with a stationary bike, so I replaced them with a set of sony xplods, with the original cd stereo it made a huge difference in terms of sound quality, all the vibrations and distortions were gone.

This is exactly why this should have been posted in ICE. The ex's come with 6x9's in the rear, others have 6 1/2's in the rear, in the front are 6 1/2's, and with the ex, they have a tweeter.
THEANTIRICEST, basically, but the civic's have a small mounting depth (how low below the rear deck the magnets can go) so if you get ones with too big of a mounting depth, they will hit the trunk springs.
The cones of quality speakers are usually a poly type, and the rubebr is butyl rubber
