Rotary Valves...
I was watching a European tech show and they were talking about rotary valve engines. They are 2 stroke super efficient engines. Instead of using reed valves and an open port they use rotating valves. This allows for engines speeds up to 20k RPM's... currently they are only used in Ultra light air craft. a 520CC rotary engine can produce upwards of 300HP. and runs about 89% efficient (better than most cars out there)..
Anyone else heard of or know anything more about this?..

Yea, rotary engines own.
They were invented by a man named Wankel. Unlike normal engines, they are shaky at low rpms and are smooth at high rpms. And thats about all I can remember about them at the moment.

The engine is the same as you would find on a r/c airplane or an r/c car. There are some italian r/c car engines that can top 50,000rpm (!).
