Just A Thought
The new civics have been said to not respond well to mods, however some articles I've read say that at the flywheel, the mods are producing, but not at the wheels. I'm not sure, but could it be the power transfer? Maybe a new transmission, clutch, and drive axles would help? Probably not, but it was just a thought. It's probably just the articles being full of bs.
its all about the torque and we don't have that much ....this thread will explain it to u

I'm not talking about torque, I'm talking power to the wheels. I understand the torque, I'm talking about the power transfer. It's obvious we got no torque, and horsepower don't mean shiet until high in the powerband, but I'm saying the responsiveness of the civic to mods. We could sit here and preach all day about horsepower and torque, but that's not what I'm getting at. Everyone that I've talked to says that the older generation of civics the D16 motors were more responsive to mods than our cars. Of course emissions has alot to do with it, but I'm wondering if the power transfer in the new civic is not efficient as it needs to be...mainly because of the power at the flywheel being a satisfying increase but at the wheels being disappointing...

Ya know, there ARE threads on teh site that deal with this subject. Aftermarket parts ARE available, go shopping around. Just be sure you have plenty of cash on hand so you dont run out halfway thru the evolution of your drivetrain. Sheesh, doesnt anyone every use the search freature anymore???
its not only the civic its all N/A cars i mean wut can u do to it? intake, head exhaust, and maybe change the computer chip wuts that give u 15hp max?..if u want power go for force induced..turbo, super charged, or naws...but ofcourse u can go for port and polish or gude but its still an N/A car so don't get your hopes up...

by the way the only part remotely related to what we're talking about here available is a new clutch. Go take a look in the parts section I don't imagine looking anywhere else for it...

I guess for my go fast fun I'll stick to my EG b18C-R hybrid...HKS please make your turbo street legal sometime soon...and I still don't think that the 7th gen couldn't use some help with a more efficient transfer of power from the flywheel to the wheels.
as long as we're thinking about it -although its quite obvious- we need to reprogram our ECUs. No one has done this yet and it probably the most restrictive part of the 7th gen. ECU is programmed for ULEV - previous gens weren't! We reprogram and we start to see our mods respond like they should. Good thoughts but I dont think thats our problem. The d17 does have more torque than the d16 obviously, but i've seen some powerful all motor d16's that werent hindered by the same ULEV programmed ECU. Point is that the 7th gen d17 is a fricken step up from the d16 and the problem lies with the ECU and the fuel system. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
I think that nookie is on to something here. What if say you have a hotrod (auto) with a blown 458 (454 bored .030 over) pushing 950 hp. Now in that same senario what would make it more responsive? A Torque converter ~ B 3500 Stall ~ C 5500 Stall?
It would be C. It is designed to grab more and wait for the cam to load up with power before you take off. Say there was something that we could do to our Tranny's to make it more direct drive (responsive). Maybe go with a 27 spine axle or maybe make the tranny grab faster so that it could put more power to the wheels quicker. I also agree about the ECU. If you can find some one with a PGM-Tester, then you can re prog. you ECU. BTW Honda dealerships are not the only ones that have these things, I have found that some of the local import repair shops have the PGM Tester also. Of course the dearlership can sell you one for about 3k.
