How come Honda doesnt do this???
so i dont get how come honda doesnt come out with a tricked/souped/modded civic. i mean subaru has the WRX, altho thats been around from the rally stuff as well as the Lancer EVO. i know theres the Si, but thats nothing special...i mean thats just a diferent engine in there and some MOMO stuff inside. hehe
it seems everyone is getting on this bandwagon, kinda sux that honda isnt following suit.
do you think we can have some sort of a poll or petition started and present honda with it and try to persuade them to do something?? i mean 4k+ members on here, im sure it will get around other forums as well...but i think we can really do something if we get organized.
think about it...a stock civic that can woop a WRX. and imagine what else can be done with aftermarket parts.
i think we can do it!!!

Derek, would it be possible to set up an online sign sheet that stores names of interested people in a database?? something secure and dynamic so that people can only sign it once so its something legit that Honda would not just throw away??
comments welcome, please dont flame...just trying to get something started.
thanx

I still think they should do it.
doesnt anyone else??think about, a civic where you wont need to swap the K20 blah blah motor in (sorry...i dont know all that much about them...just dreaming. lol) this civic will be off the lot....maybe just label it Si!?!?!? hehe
maybe cause it would be too expensive and sales would go down for the civic. after all, accords and civics are the top selling honda cars
cause honda isn't really into those kinda stuff..they want to make reliable cars that is safe for the planet and is very fuel efficient...and not many companies like to make cars with the little snail (turbo) cause it can have lots of problems. like turing off your car right after u park..thats a no no..and most ppl aren't aware of this so the turbo dies and they need to get a new one...so turbo/and supercharded cars are fun but when it comes down to it they can also break down more easly than a N/A car cause there is a lot more stuff involved...
Japan has the TypeR civic if that's what you looking for
but i dont think Honda will make 4WD economic car cuz the market is not big enough and it will increase the production cost and we wont find civic to be cheap afterward

I think they may do just that for the last model year of the 7th gen civic. Seeing how things are going with dealers selling aftermarket parts and Honda offering a sports suspension package. Hopefully they'll fit a K series in there. That's what I'm hoping, since I plan to buy the last model year of the 7th gen civic coupe and transfer all of my mods to it. lets see...sorry i havent replied, i was away for the weekend for my b-day.
but anyways...ill try to address the issues one by one.
im not denying that its going to be more expencive than civics are now. but im not proposing to change the whole civic lineup. im just saying it would be very nice to have one that is targeted to the tuner market (like the WRX is). people buying the accord dont look at the civic, its a different class of a car. i might be wrong, but i doub that this is an issue for honda. accord and civic do not canibalize eachothers' sales.
so honda can make a civic hybrid and the insight, as they are now. the DX/LX/EX are still environmentally friendly and reliable. this will be just another "trim level" of the civic lineup geared to a specific target market. i am not contesting your knowledge of problems with the turbo/supercharger setup, but i doubt companies like saab, VW, subaru, plus im sure a slew of others would release factory turboed cars if they were problematic and would tarnish their reputation. and as far as people getting the turbo and being careless with them, thats not honda's problem that the driver is stupid. if you buy it, know how to care for it. i also dont think that the granny that wants a cheap compact to go to the market with will buy a turbo anyways, thats what the DX/LX/EX is for. she aint driving the Si is she??
yes, something along those lines. i understand the CTR is pretty ballsy. and i know theres issues with bringing that type of car to the US, like there was with the WRX and still with the Lancer. i know that japan has more lax emissions laws and the components in the engine bay can in turn be arranged in a way that will yield more power. but if subaru and mitsu. are making the move on the import performance market, i think honda should also. as far as demand for a 4WD economic car not being there, how many people do you know that buy SUVs just so they have 4WD? this is not a novel thing, and im sure honda will start doing this in the future since it does increase safety, but i guess im impatient. hehe production costs dont have to increase that much if there is limited production of this model. if subaru found an economical way to do it, i dont see a reason why it cant be done by others.
as far as civics being cheap, yes they are inexpencive now. assuming you buy an EX, how much more money are those interested in tuning their car going to spend on top of that? Htown is swapping a K20 motor into his civic, thats like a $10k job. why not just buy a $27k civic right off the bat? if you want an inexpencive civic no one is stopping anyone from going that route. but if youre going to be putting in cash into the car to mod it anyways, why not start at a higher level? if thats what your intentions are, its not going to be something cheap in the long run.
i agree with you, but all it is is a marketing ploy. i dont know about you, but i dont feel like paying an extra $2 or $3K for an acura badge when all it is is a nice honda. it never fails to amaze me how fast consumers in america jump on something because it either has a brand name on it, or a premium label or badge. all it is is name. im not arguing that they are not nice, but a 227HP civic would be nicer!
im with you! sux that it seems we are in the minority over here! lol when is the last model year of the 7thGen civic? do you know? if you hear anything on this, would you let me know?

well...hope i didnt miss anyone. also, im just stating my opinion, so dont be upset if i dont agree with you...its nothing personal. but DAAAAAM! that was long. sorry. hehe
i welcome further opinions and input, but please dont flame.

but anyways...ill try to address the issues one by one.

Yeah I was just talking to my dad about this tonight and he said yeah well honda doesn't really need to worry because they are about reliability, and not too much on speed. Plus the civic has been more of a just good gas mileage car and economy sort of ride since it came out. But of course they had the prelude putting out 200 HP that I never saw a whole lot of but wow I loved driving them. So I am hoping also honda puts out something powerfull in the civic here sometime, I am keeping my fingers crossed because I don't really wanna have to go to the Accord V6 Manual if I don't have to, love the civic more.

A tricked out/modded/souped up Civic straight from the factory? I thought that was the whole point of buying a Civic...to be creative and original with your mods.
