my first ticket..
yup.... got my first ticket tonight.. "running a red light".... dang man that light wasnt even red.. it was yellow!! and it was one of those screwed if you stop, screwed if you go situations.. i know for damn sure that it was yellow but i wasnt gonna argue with the police officers about it. so i was wondering... is there any way i can get out of this one? this is my first ticket and im 16. wasnt speeding, wasnt doing any crazy ****.. just an empty open road with absolutely no cars around. the ticket turned out to be $116 and from reading on this board, i know that its possible to have this ticket dismissed since its my first one.. so.. is it possible? what about insurance and points on my license? hoping to hear something from that nice man qcksilvr =P
well i know that u can get a ticket for running a yellow light also. cause my friend got one. and i got one for the same thing u did. running a "red light". but it was yellow. i didn't do anything about it.wehn my insurance is over in august, i;m gonna hvae to be paying alot more cause i also have speeding ticket.... probably won't be driving for a while..too poor
be prepared to get plenty more tickets.. since we're all considered "young and dangerous" behind the wheel. and if your ride is souped up even just a lil bit.. (like rims).. then that just makes the stereotype more stronger .. just be cautious

I dont know if you can get out of them or not. I know that it was an empty road and all, but ignorance is not excuse.
Your best bet would be to try though, tell them you felt it unsafe to try and stop on such short notice and that it could have caused you to loose control or something, and in that given situation there was no danger to others had you run the "yellow" light.
Thats just my $0.02
Good Luck.

Anyway, you're required to stop at a yellow light if you may do so safely. A yellow does not mean "please go through the intersection." In any event, it's only your first and is not a big deal. Go to the court and see what type of plea they will offer you.
i got pulled over for running a red light, well that's what the cop claimed. when he came up to my window, he told me he pulled me over for running a red. i told him the light was still yellow, (as nice as possible). he took my DL, and insurance info, came back and said okay, just be a little bit more careful next time. to be honest with you, i didn't do anything in particular, i guess i just got lucky. just take the supervision they are going to give you, go to driving school, and get the ticket off your record in three months. that's the only thing i could say. just make sure you don't get pulled over while under the supervision.
I know what you mean dog, about being screwed if you stop and screwed if you go. I got a warning for mine, but I got a ticket once for yielding at stop sign at 2:00 in the morning and NOBODY was on the road. But I know I broke the law, I should've stopped but I think the cop could've analyzed the situation a little more from my point of view and say hey this kid is the only person on the road, he isn't drunk, he has a good driving record, so hey I will give him a warning, but nope, no dice. Instead I receive a 110 dollar ticket.
