need some help... 96 hatch vs 7th Gen

Alrite guys, heres teh deal my friend just bought a used 96 civic hatch, Manual Transmission n he is now constantly betting me he can beat my 7th Gen Civic, but mine is Automatic Trans.
so anyways, i was wondering if you guys could tell me if i should race him/bet him
basically all the winner gets is dinner n bragging rights so its nothing big...
also ill let u know that his hatch is bone stock and my car has a few performance parts, i really dont feel any pdifference its jstu all in my head, so maybe mines a tad above stock but not much,
well what do you think?
thanks, just need some comments not flamers

if he does a power brake, he'll just mess up the torque converter

If he has a stick shift, and can drive, and does a dump off the line, you probably won't win. But it will be close.

You should be able to take him. Try not to spin off the line and just mash the pedal.
