What are the RSX-R features going to be in the US?

I was wondering what were the RSX-R features going to be in the US, since i heard that it will be out in 2003 (not sure when, any clarification?).

This is what i came up with:
. Will be available in spring 2003 (probably March 2003, who knows?)
. 2.0 litre I-VTEC engine at 220bhp, 152 lbs-ft of torque

But what I'd like to know is the following:
. Prany idea about the price?
. What options will they drop (A/C, recaro seats, Brembo brakes, JDM Type R height, JDM light wieght, JDM LSD)?
. Will it have xenon discharge headlamps?

If you guys have any additional info to add (or correct), please let me know.

Thanks!

as far as I know I dont even think the JDM Type R has HID. So id nix that. We prob wont get the Recaros either. As for price expect it to be around 25-27k with dealer inflation as MSRP for a Type S is 23,6, and most dealers will try to get you for more than that.

It should be at least $2,000 more than the Type S... which would be $25k for starters... which is fair... the difference between the GS-R and the Type R was $2,000.

No one really knows what's gonna be on them for sure... though I'm optimistic about it's arrival, Acura's made no word about a Type R RSX yet.

As for stock HID... damn... that would be good... that would be bad... good cuz who doesn't like HIDs? That's bad cuz it means you can't make an RSX Type R look stealth at night unless the 2003 RSXs come with stock HID next year. That would probably jump the price up a lil', but I don't see the problem with Acura at least making it a dealer option. I wouldn't mind it if Honda did this in the future themselves.

Are all Type Rs made to have ported and polished heads? I was wondering about this with the new upcoming RSX Type R. We all know the old engine was the GS-R's engine with better heads - does this apply to the new RSX Type R or is the engine itself just going to have more HP?

You are right man. The RSX-R will be the same angine of the RSX-S but with different pistons, camshafts, LSD and Valve cover (I wish that the valve covers increased more HP :laugh. The ITR engine parts are sold on JDMHondaparts site Linky, which are found on the JDM Honda section:

1-Camshafts/Valvetrain: RSX-R/DC5 camshafts
• Can be installed on any K-series engine.

2-Pistons: RSX-R/DC5 piston set
• Can be installed on any K-series engine.

3-LSD Units: RSX-R/DC5 LSD unit
• Gear type LSD from JDM RSX-R

4-Valve Covers: DC5/RSX Type-R Valve Cover (for looks not performance)
• Genuine 2001 RSX-R red valve cover!.

I think if you fit these parts you will get the same power of the JDM DC5R HP power (220hp), but still you will need these Brembo brakes, recaro seats, 17" rims to make the RSX-S a Type R!

hope this helps,

Don't forget to throw out the stereo, power steering, and moonroof (well, actually that'd be a kew feature and you can't really throw it away anyway). Type R body kit, badges and spoiler... 220HP at the wheel.

The old Integra Type R could safely be pushed to 8,600 RPMs...2,000 passed it's redline without doing major damage to the engine. Who knows, it might be able to be pushed harder...

I'm curious... you know it seems every new Honda now comes out with the crappy MacPherson struts on the front wheels and the double wishbone suspension on the rear now. What about the new Integra Type R?

Just what I expected... everything seems to be going MacPherson...

And is it me? Or does the DC5R seem a lil... high off the ground? The DC2R was noticably lower than it's lower-level models... I dunno, it doesn't look like it's all that low to me... they can't be using the same springs as the Type S... (would that be DC5S?)

US Acura RSX-S is 1400mm of suspension height. OZDM Honda Integra Type R is even 1400mm. US and OZDM share same suspension (US RSX-S and OZDM DC5R share same suspension) (Look under the specifications of OZDM Type R)
but the JDM Honda Integra Type R is 1385mm of suspension height, so this means the JDM is lower than US and OZDM version!

SoNiCcIvIc: yea they are higher than before. They raised it up cause the DC2R customers were complaining that the car is too stiff for street use and fixed that problem in the new DC5R. It is still stiff, but not as stiff as the DC2R was.

NeoMagus: BTW the photo you attached is an OZDM Integra Type R (Australain version), which is RHD (AUstralian cars are RHD like Japanese cars).
It has same RSX-S:
*engine
*suspension
*16" rims

but has:
*JDM LSD
*JDM Recaro seats
*JDM front/rear/side spoilers
*JDM Type R wing

Note: JDM DC5R comes with 17" rims as standard!

BTW guys my jap friend translated this info from his JDM DC5R manual from Japanese to English, it says: "you need unleaded (lead-free)premium gasoline, if you don't have it you can use regular one. you cannot use leaded gasoline." <------ didnt mention any numbers, so as long the fuel is unleaded then it will run with out knocking!

and

my Australian friend who has the OZDM DC5R manual says: "95RON fuel is recommend, IF 95RON is unavailable in your district, you can substitute 95RON premium for a lower grade petrol. The engine management will adjust itself to the lower grade petrol. However, you may experience a loss in power performance ".

*Note: RON-5points= Octane Rating

it took me months to get this info for you guys!
What do you think guys?

I saw an Australian DC5R before, and it is *high*... it looked just like the height of a Type S. I couldn't believe it.

Hehehe, so they raised it due to the stiffened chassis. I can understand that. The DC2R as a daily driver over normal bumpy roads isn't exactly a comfortable ride until the tach needle flys passed 5,500 RPMs. This makes the new DC5R a lil' civilized... you can always lower a car.

95RON? Is that racing fuel?

95RON is not racing fuel, it is used for street use (unleaded here). 100RON and above is racing fuel. well the O means Octane. The more octane the better quality the fuel will be. Technically the more Octane the more harder for the pistons to burn that fuel. This resulting a harder force, bigger outlet and better response, so that's why 100RON and above racing fuel produce more HP than regular fuel. Honda Japan recommends using 96RON for street use and 100RON for track use on the JDM DC5R. Anyway I am trying to get the car and use unleaded 95RON (that is highest octane here) and I know that the ECU will retune itself, adjust spark timings and check on Manifold, head, radiator temperature....etc. All that is done automatically by the ECU. You will realise it is only 1RON difference so that not allot of HP loss here. The most important thing the car has knock sensors to prevent engine knocking. I cant wait till I get mine.
