4k is a big difference for 12hp other than the interior differences whats the big advantage of an EX?

That 4 grand isnt just for the 12 hp the ex has more stuff than the others, but more stuff = more weight

Well you won't pay those prices most likely. I got a manual LX for 13.5K out the door w/ floormats. I probably could have gotten an EX for around 16K with the mats. The way I looked at it, I would be paying 2.5K for ABS, sunroof, & 12HP which actually turns into about 4-7HP difference at the wheels. One could make the argument that it would be worth it to get a 'better' version of the car, but you could upgrade all day with that logic. Oh, its only 2.5 grand more for an EX...now it's only 2 grand more for a Celica GT...now a few more grand for the GT-S and on and on.
It basically comes down to what you can/want to spend. I think the price/value ratio is highest with the LX, but if aftermarket or sunroof/ABS is a want for you, then you know what you must do. I'd avoid the DX though unless you don't need AC. I priced one out and after I added AC it was only like $500 less than the LX. I think I would have missed the tach, PW/PLs, and painted body parts. YMMV

Ex only comes with 2 more hp at the wheels the civics were dynoed. Your paying for "vtec" and sunroof and tweeters cd player and a lil bigger rims. Plus the whole aftermarket thing. I went witht he lx myself. Supposably its more likley for there to be a turbo for the lx than the ex because of the high compression ratios in the ex im not sure thou i could be wrong.

That's only because the companies made the parts FOR the EX when they produced it instead of actually making it for the LX or whatever... so it's not because the LX sucks or something... it's because the EX was targetted for product production, just like how popular sports cars (Integra, etc) have more parts...
DX is lighter but EX has vtec
if your all about racing DX cuz its weight reducted already
Lexus IS300

Come on everyone knows the DX, LX suck. And for these people who claim to buy their EX's for like 15,900 well good for you. I dont care I paid 17,900 for mine. But I was like the first peron to my state to have a 2001 civic. To me that is worth something. Just get a EX and save yourself the hassle of not driving the best civic.

uh-huh..................
Then why did I beat an EX at the track three weeks ago? That's beside the point tho. You tell people not to but LX, DX because they are not the "best" civic. Last time I checked the EX wasn't either........think Si if you have the money.
