Modding my first car - Which Civic should I get?
Hey everyone.
I joined the forum today because I would like to mod my first car, and I am leaning heavily towards modding a Civic. I have always driven a Civic but never got into modding one. I was wondering if I could get everyone's opinions.
Which generation is the best to mod, where is the best place to get parts and after-market parts, and anything you all wish you did or didn't do.
I heard that the Civic 1992-2000 was a good year to go for.
Thanks crew,
Max
Also, which model do you guys recommend? Because there are way more Civic models than I remember hahah.

Re: Modding my first car - Which Civic should I get?
Better starting platforms:
6th gen Si (99-00)
7thgen Si hatch (or basically anything with a K20 or K24 engine like the 8th or 9thgen Si's)
10thgen if you want that sweet OE turbo life (that n/a k20 in the lower coupe/sedan trims kinda suck though, compared to the 7th/8th/9thgen k20s. The Type R K20 is a straight up beast)
If you plan on going full send with the modding, really, choose a body style you like and run with it. If you're going full send, you'd prolly be changing just about anything and everything humanly possible, including engine/tranny, so it wouldn't really matter what you started with.
However, that's not to say you can't have fun modding a D-series. That's what I did for 15 years on a 2002 ex coupe. Do your homework, buy quality stuff the first time (buy once, cry once, maybe twice). I think I went through 3 different intakes, 2 suspension setups, 4 different audio setups, 4 different headlight setups (2 different retrofits, one plug and play, modified OEM halogen), 2 different hood pin setups. It is much easier said than done since tastes change over time. I've been modding a lot slower and more deliberately with my 2018 hatch
