Dont laugh...i know our cars are slow..but i kick a lot of *** in the town i am from.

My question is.....what gear should i be in for the fastest accel. not top speed...all im saying is... is D3 or D2 higher torque = better acceleration? my toip speed can kill any car around here but my accelleration needs some work

if you gonna drag... do it in D3....
use D2 if you know when to shift up to D3

you drag with an auto???....if so, try to find out where to switch gears manually right....

D= overdrive or drive

D2= i beleive is for towing or if you have alot of weight in your car such as a full car of people or a **** load of luggage

D3= i beleive is for uphill and things like that

Likeweeeeeeee if you dont know what D, D2, and D3 come from you dont own an auto civic....

in other words, this thread doesnt concern you...but thanks for tryign to help, i guess

D3 = starts in 2nd gear for going up hill
2 = uses the engine to slow down when going too fast down hill

well if your racin from a stop... it doesnt really matter what u put it on.. D3 or D.. (D2 wouldnt be good cuz it start u on 2nd gear.. n keep u there).. so if u racing from stop.. just leave it in D and floor it.. if u dont let off the gas.. the car will accelerate through the redline and shift to the next gear... (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th)

but if you are already moving.. its a good idea to downshift if u want more torque.. and i think the gears are as follows

1st. 0 - 35 mph
2nd 36 - 65 mph
3rd 66 - 95 mph??
4th 95+mph ??

im not sure bout the lenght of third.. cuz i never really have space to go that fast.. but if you are moving at around 60 and put it in to D2.. the rpms will jump way up to like 6k.. and u will definitly feel allot more pull as you floor it. just make sure u put it back up to D3.. at the redline.. becuase if u dont.. it will go past 6800 and goto like 7100.. and then you will hit the fuel cut off.. which prollie isnt too good for ur engine...

i woulda actually gotten a stick shift.. but my parents bought me my car (so i really didnt get to pick n choose/ argue)... and if my dad knew how to drive a stick.. then he would have let me get a stick too.. but he didnt so i got auto...
