Do I have an interference engine?
Do I have an interference engine?
My cam belt broke and I need to know if I have an interference engine or not. To work out if it's worth a repair.
It's a Honda HRV 4wd 2001 petrol. The engine number is D16W11120951.
Car angel said it is but other sites say only up to 1999. Can anyone help.

Re: Do I have an interference engine?
I'm not familiar with the HRV (we didn't have it in the US) but if it's fairly common you can find a good cylinder head and simply swap. It's probably cheaper to do that than to actually fix the bent valves.
It may also be worth while to verify there are bent valves. I once had a K series engine break the timing chain. When that happened I'm guessing it got wrapped around something and completely stopped the engine. I pulled the engine apart expecting to find bent valves but there weren't any.
