two mechanics told me ..... about springs
i just got my progress springs.. from what i read on this site.. they are pretty good. i ask my uncle to install them for me (he is certified Mechanic), he says hes not gonna do it.. becuase 1.. he said my car is too new.. (7,000k miles so far) mite cuase problems, and 2... becuase he said lowering the same height all around is not a good idea. he said the front should remain lower then the back, (aka stock design). my progress springs lower 2 inches all the way around.
another shop told me the same stuff...
what do you guyz think? any of that stuff true? also why is everyone tryin to a$$ rape me for spring install.. my uncle is free.. but Meineki is 120$.. Max RPM (local import shop) is 200$.. some shop quoted me 260$... wtf is goin on!?! im not gonna pay more then 100$
thankzz,
mike

get the tools and a couple of budys and the info on how to do it (possibly from here)
and make a day out of it... I was quoted 600 in labor to install springs and shocks, so i am gunna do the back my self and let them mess with the front

$120 for spring install is reasonable i guess. i paid $100 to get my h&r's installed and $200 for my konis to get put on
$200 to get those springs is ridiculous, and i feel sorry for anyone who pays $260

i personally like it lower in the front.. about the breaking in thing.... it's not good to install new springs with old shocks.. i think that's what your uncle meant... i think if you replaced the springs and the shocks... you wouldn't have to worry about anything...
If the springs lower 2" all-around equally, then the rake (angle) of the car will not change from stock at all. Your mechanic's logic is off on this one. The springs that lower the rear less than the front are to increase the rake of the car, not to keep it the same as stock. I'm speaking theoretically but if the manufacturers numbers are correct you should get similar results.
If you lower your car 2' all the way around it won't affect the angle of your car because your lowering all the springs equally.. As long as you don't get and unequal drop it won't affect the angle....
STOCK
3"in gap in back 2"in gap in front
If you drop it 1"in all the way around
AFTERMARKET
2"in gap in back 1"in gap in front
Am I missing something????ANGLE STILL INTACT

<< The intake makes engine die faster >>

What's the difference if the car has 7000 or 700000? If it causes problems put the stock ones back on and lesson learned.
<< your uncle might have a point regarding the front being lower than the rear. neuspeed sports are like that and i think the egineers designed that for a reason. >>
The front is lowered more than the rear because it doesn't really get any heavier. The rear is set up to sit higer, so that when the car is carrying a full load: 3 passengers in the rear , full trunk of luggage etc. it doesn't sit lower than the front and cause problems.
<< haha, good ish family man. Hey, so when is a good time to lower your car? 10k mileage? >>
Answer: when ever you have the money to get it done. I have no idea why they said that??? Get that baby lowered, the sooner the better.

OK if this is the case.. then when you take out the stock springs, they are the same size?? becuase iif they are the same size.. then its not the springs tahts making the front gap smaller then the back, and that would make it ok for me to put on my 2inchers all around. but if you take out he stock springs and they are different sizez.. then that would mean the spring is whats making the front and back gap different... which would make puttin 2 inch drop all around NOT ok. it would level out the car
Hey ...I have progress springs on my car, got them installed at about 2k miles, I'm at 17k and the struts haven't blown yet and it handles fine...I would def. recommend getting a camber kit though...and eventually struts...

You also have to take in to account spring rates......
