built a home made CAI

I finaly did it and it works great. So this is going to be a short DIY. This works realy well if you allready have a short ram intake. Go to home depot and buy a 8' long piece of HARD aluminum dryer duct, not the flimsy foil. The hard duct is very flexible and is stretches out from like 3' to 8' when you pull on it. this should cost about $6. you are also going to need 2 3" hose clamps. To start remove your front bumper and the remove the battery and the metal support below the battery. Now cut about 8" off of the end of your air intake and stick about an inch and a half of it into the flex tube and secure it w/ a hose clamp. feed this end down into the engine bay and pull it between the the black plastic fender well and the metal that makes up the support behind the bumper. This sounds tricky but when you look at it theres only one place you could pull the piece of hard tubing through. I had to shave the plastic lip off the fender well to make it fit. once you have to tube sticking through use an L bracket and some self tapping sheet metal screws to secure it. the just clamp your filter onto the end of it, you should now have your air filter behind the corner of your front bumper. then just stretch the other end of the tubing to the corect length and hose clamp it to the piece of your intake that connects to the throttle body. I know this sounds kinda confusing and im sorry that I dont have any pics but it does work. The only thing I can see anyone complaining about is the fact that it is very quiet and makes almost no intake noise, but you should be more concerned w/ making power than w/ making noise.

Im prepping my car for Hyper-fest...so Im worried w/ power, not looks right now. I have done very well in shows before, w/ my polished short ram and painted engine and tons of custom interrior work that I havnt mentioned yet, but right now I just want a few more H.P.

Mine will be ram air soon, Im fiberglassing off a section behind the bumper and using the factory fog light location for a scoop. Im gonna replace the dryer duct w/ 3" aluminumized steel as soon as I ge the money for the muffler shop to bend it for me.

I had a friend that made one out of pvc pipe for his vic. I guess any kind of tubing would work. You're just trying to free up the restriction. I think the loud sound comes with the higer airflow though. Anyhow, it is ghetto, but you fabricated it yourself.
