suggestions to honda

have already spent better part of the morning . . . looking around forum for info on 'suggestions'.

how does one make suggestions to honda? surely some have already made suggestions to honda for some feature or issue? my suggestion would be for honda to feature a garage-door-opener, in all models, as standard equipment.

Re: suggestions to honda

sounds like a good idea, however im not sure you could make a unit to control all different brands of door openers

Not trying to discount your suggestion, but.....

I'm pretty sure there's only 4 people on the entire freekin planet that actually figured out how to use that (Homelink®) in the cars that already have that feature.

Daily, I see cars equipped with that feature that have a sunvisor full of regular garage door openers.

So while it's a great idea, it sure seems that it's seldom actually put to use in the real world.

I used one Homelink® out of a Chrysler sunvisor to build an extra 3 button door opener for work that runs on a 9V battery....
I have another Homelink® unit I need to fab some waterproof remote switches and install into the fairing of my bike.
I have thought about swiping a different map light assembly from some other Honda that has the Homelink® to stuff into the roof of my car, but I'm pretty sure I'd still reach for the regular remote on my visor all the time.
I do need to do up a Homelink® for the truck so I don't have to carry openers around when I switch rides.

mikey1 … thanks your reply … my weekend car (cayman) had the capacity to be programmed with the top six manufacturers. took ten minutes of reading the manual, and three live attempts, before success. the convenience factor is remarkable… only thing to remember is erasing the program if ever i'd sell the car.

ezone … appreciate the courtesy … i'd heard about them (homelink) a few years ago … even checked their website back then. but, sometimes, after-market products tend to look horrible … which is how i felt about what homelink had to offer.

if i was electronically inclined … i wouldn't balk in adding a fuse to the panel under the steering-wheel to facilitate the opener … thereby, hard-wiring the controller. but a 'custom-install' which utilizes an oem battery … seems like only one step up from a palm-sized gizmo (craftsman, genie, etc) hanging from the sun-visor.

and i am, in no way, downplaying your expertise in this matter, ezone.

in lieu of this idiotic purist ideal of mine … am still open to a link for contacting honda about suggestions.

Hondas customer relations hotline?

Thinking as a bean counter: I doubt they would install them on the bottom of the line cars, it's an expense that not everyone needs...
(but somehow Bluetooth IS? *scratches head in wonder, checks time on flipfone*)

and it doesn't improve exhaust emissions or get better gas mileage so the engineering departments don't see a need for it LOL.

thereby, hard-wiring the controller. but a 'custom-install' which utilizes an oem battery … seems like only one step up from a palm-sized gizmo (craftsman, genie, etc) hanging from the sun-visor.
I was talking about the factory installed units like these

I have the unit in the center pic (might be from an 06ish Accord) to put on my bike.....and if I were to swap one into my Civic it would probably end up just like the lower pic. Yes I'd have to string a few more wires, that's no big deal to me.

Right now my map lights are exactly like what the person is holding in the bottom pic......I don't like my map lights as they are, the lenses rattle after a time.....I replaced the set twice under warranty LOL

You can also get Homelink in a rear view mirror like this

home-depot sells rolls of adhesive-backed foam-rubber insulation strips … different firmness … might consider utilizing for similar effect.
