WARRANTY VOID ON REPLACING SPRINGS??

I did a search, and it didnt really help much, so now I'm asking if my warrantly is void since I put Eibach springs on my car??

p.s. - also would like to know if warranty is void with any other mod - i.e. intake, exhaust, headers etc.

thanx

If you searched you probably would have come accross my message from a long time ago... puttin springs on your car wil void your suspension warranty.. so when your new springs cause your stock struts to blow Honda will say its because of the springs and not honor your warranty. My struts blew after 15000 km on STOCK springs, so that just shows you how poor the stuts on our car are.
Basicly.. if your getting springs then get konis or wait for KYBs or something.. then your springs and struts will both have lifetime warrantys from the manufacturer of them.

instead of being b*tches, and just saying search, answer his damn question. and if you did search for it, why dont you help him out and post some of the threads you found on it. i'm tired of people always being a b*tch posting 'search' 'in before the lock' etc... if your not gunna answer the question, dont reply at all...

well to answer your question, will warranties be void? yes. will all of them be void? no. by law they have to prove that what you did to the car caused the damage. for example, if you lowered you car, your warranties for suspension is probably gone. but anything electrical wouldn't. so ya basically if the mod caused the damage then yes your warranty is gone, if it didn't then you are still covered.

SEMA Go to the SEMA website it explains everything. It explains the Magnuson-Moss Warrenty Act which will answer all your warranty questions.

1st .... amen vnlilman
2nd .... ask your dealer b4 u do it some say anything u do to your car will void , others will say if u have a problem with your car and they can relate it back to something you did. i.e. blown struts if your lower your car but i don't know if they can say anything if u change the struts and put after market on. my dealer tried to tell me that i could do anything as long as it doesn't cause a problem put then tried to tell me lowering my car would not pass a state inspection because of lowering the height of the car....

I've been told two things from my dealer:

1st time: If the car is too low for them to get under, the warranty is voided.
2nd time: If I change the suspension, the warranty is voided.

Then there's that warranty thing somewhere on THIS site that says that you can use certain aftermarket parts to change the appearance of your car and the only way it can void the warranty is if the dealer can prove it caused a problem. I cannot find that link.

I think it's all in the dealer. You might be better off finding a dealer that doesn't mind modifications when you bring it in for whatever. They might treat the suspension just like they treat the engine so be careful.

<< also would like to know if warranty is void with any other mod - i.e. intake, exhaust, headers etc. >>

Generally, the basic bolt on engine mods as intake, headers, exhaust can't really void your warranty unless they cause a problem to the car and you want the dealer to fix it. (They can't fix it under warranty... if they'll touch it you might have to pay but you will get your warranty voided in the process.) It's still all in the dealer's attitude towards aftermarket parts. But don't get caught in a warranty fraud over something stupid like a dealer saying you can't change your rims or else they'll void your warranty.

uh... when you lower your car, you replace your factory springs so... but i'm sure that the shock/strut warranty is voided. if its not then psh i saw goto that dealer if your shock blows...

as for all of your warranty being void, to me thats stoopid. i'd say goto a different dealer. if all dealers are like that then just fight it when you have a problem with your car that deals with something other then suspension.

That's exactly what i said awhile ago and people still don't heed my advice. Why don't people that just post "search" write a bloody FAQ about EVERYTHING so all you gotta do is look it up in the FAQ. I mean this is a FORUM, for DISCUSSION, and yes 99.99999% of the time every question would have been posted in some similar fashion. This isn't a FAQencyclopedia so fvcking write something useful or don't post at all.

Post related: Adding ANYTHING aftermarket that is related to a damaged stock part, Honda will void and not honor the warranty. Either wait until the warranty expires, or get honda to install it and sign a document saying they will still honor it. Otherwise it's your risk.

Read the manual...it says to not modify your suspension....which kind of covers the dealers butt when you change your suspension and they refuse warranty service...
