My New 95 Civic

Just picked up a 95 Ex Civic from a co worker for cheap. He bought it new with 10 miles on it in 95. Has all service records. 170K miles and just needs a timing belt.

The story is that he parked it in his garage, woke up the next morning to go to work, went to start it and the belt snapped. I believe him and am hoping that it does not need new valves since it was not running when it broke.

Regardless I am going to fix it up and resell it . I would love to make it a project car but don't know if I will be able to make that happen. Hopefully I wont run into to many problems when fixing it. It does leak oil and you can tell when you look at the engine, going to try and find the source of that.

It is is decent shape for being almost 20 years old. Lol, I would consider tapes to be before my time, I mostly had CD's. I had considered putting a PAC audio bluetooth system in it.

It is un-molested. Hard to find any that aren't. I would like to find someone to buy it who is going to take care of it but we will see. Never though about nest's, ill make sure to check.

Re: My New 95 Civic

If your really going to sell it I wouldn't bother putting any sort of stereo in it. You'd just be throwing your $$$ away. Unless you already have something laying around. When I bought my '99 Civic it was just the 'stock' CD player and anything more than that would have added zero value for me. The PO didn't even bother to secure the original stereo into the dash either...It does sound good in my F150 though so I guess that's a win for me.

Re: My New 95 Civic

Wow, that interior is spotless.
Wish same could be said about the bay.

I'd def keep it for a beater/project car, has a lot of potential.
And not to mention, those older civics are light, and saves a ton of gas.

Re: My New 95 Civic

The interior looks almost like it did in 95!

I would love to keep it as a project car. Restore the exterior, keep the interior stock and drop a k,b,h or boosted d in it. I was only able to buy it because I told the wife I was going to fix it and resell it. She already found a buyer :-/ If we didn't need the money for medical expenses then I would be keeping it.

I'd love to have an identical '99 to my current Civic....but boosted.

Re: My New 95 Civic

Got it running. Turns out all it needed was a tune up. I removed the valve cover and inspected the belt and it looks good. I reviewed the history that he gave me and the belt was done at 150K along with the water pump. No sign of the tensioner being done so I will do that along with crank seal. Plugs and cap looked original and there was no history of them being done.

Luckily I didnt have any visitors. I ran the heater and it smelled and worked great.

I know. 92-95 was one of the best gens. I am trying not to get to attached.

Already crossed my mind but not the best time at the moment. I don't even have a garage, need to build one.

Re: My New 95 Civic

Turns out it needs an input shaft bearing :-/ I will let the new owner know and renegotiate the price.

Original window sticker. Though it was interesting.

Re: My New 95 Civic

Wow, look at that 34/41 MPG rating.
Of course manual will blow those numbers clear out of the water. Probably able to achieve 42MPG+

I think you could do over 42mpg, the car is so light.

I took it on the back roads and you could throw it around so easily. It actually feels faster then my 01. The car is still solid at highway speeds, straight as an arrow and steering is still responsive.

No problem. I think I will post it in the 7th gen also as it is very similar. I guess 6th gen as well.
