It seems from what I've read....many,many,many F150 owners have disliked their EGR for various uninformed reasons....there should be a metal pipe running down the back of the sensor into the manifold right where they 3 into 1. I was checking it to see how hard it would be to put the pipe back in...but.....LOL.....the purposely capped hole....damn...it'll take some patience to get that out without ruining everything. Probably not going to worry about it this winter....maybe next summer if I'm feeling frisky I might do some R&R on the headers..... who knows?...could be wheels up in a ditch next month.
I do really have a lot of fun in it though. I was tailgating small cars for a while today...just for kicks. I'm so high up I can't even see them giving me the finger....awesome!
....and oh don't people get out of your way....coming down from the ski hill the other day...people practically jump out of my way coming down the hill. I'm driving slow and watching the front fender so I know I'm not crowding people out and you just see these scared face staring up at you from their small car.

EDIT: I'm told it's actually better to disconnect the electrical connection to it. The PCM will read better without it. The valve may have failed as well but until I reconnect the pipe it really doesn't matter.

We are getting our first weather bomb here (2 feet of snow in less than 2 days). I took my truck out after work tonight and drove up into the pass, pushed snow up to the top of the bumper for 1/2 km. Went skiing for a couple hours and then pushed even more snow on the way back out......

Yeah. You really have to prepare for that snow storm. Tat was a huge one. Most places lost their electricity.
So today I grabbed an electrical Gremlin by the throat and snapped it's neck....
I've been chasing it for as long as I've owned the truck. Truck runs fine in sub zero temperatures but when it gets warm out it'll do this random misfire/lose power for 1 to 2 minutes in a 1/2 hour drive and end up setting off my
with a timing warning. I've literally racked my brains forever now trying to figure it out. The other day just kind of stumbled across a thread talking about bad capacitors in the ECU of this vintage of F150. The more I read about it the more I thought this could be the problem. So today I went down to my local electronic place and picked up the required $4 worth of capacitors and went to work. I just took it for a drive and it seems like this has resolved my issue...I guess time will tell but it looks good so far..

That will be cool if it fixed the issue. It makes sense, capacitors have a life expectancy and when they start to get to the end of it they have a hard time storing energy.

It's been 12 years since I've had to deal with "other brands"... I haven't kept up, I wasn't aware Fords were also afflicted with the dreaded leaking capacitor disease that affected so many other brands and various electronic products.
Funny thing is they don't look like cheap capacitors either. I took the whole ECU in when I went to get the new ones and the dude at the counter mentioned they only have a life of around 12 years. That was news to me....so 25 year old truck. The one was definitely leaking maybe one other as well. If $4 and an hour of my time solves this then...well...Dana 60's and 10" lift here I come!

So I drove it for an hour today and everything seems good now. It's not even leaking oil anymore...gotta love it when things fix themselves.

All I've done is use quality name brand proper spec oil changed at regular intervals and top tier gasoline.....no additives. Something to think about.....

The first 6 months I was constantly adding oil to it but I'd say the last year it's barely used any. So yeah... turns out the capacitors were causing the problems. I actually drove it a lot through August and September without any issues. Just reinsured it for the next year today and did the yearly oil/filter change. I only do it once a year since it doesn't get a whole lot of use. For whatever reason it seems to not be using oil anymore. I think I put less than a liter (quart) over Aug/Sept and when I changed it today the oil was dirty but the oil pan was almost dry on the outside. It's weird but I'm certainly not complaining about it.
So I figured since I've had the stuff to change my rear drums for about a year now I should probably get around to doing that. I got to use the blue wrench to get the right rear drum off and and to also fix the adjuster mechanism... so that was fun. Interestingly the right side was seized and rusty but the left side was contaminated with grease.... I guess there's some sort of balance there.

So I got a new ignition cylinder and key today because I'm finally sick of starting my truck with a pair of vise grips. In the up coming weeks I've decided I'm going to repaint it..... bed liner!
Paint the entire truck in Rhinoliner!

I guess that's pretty much it. I resprayed the vents over the wipers today as well as the side mirrors and wiper arms. Degreased the engine and now after sitting for a few weeks I think I'm going to take it for a drive. Still got some minor stuff to do but nothing that will change cosmetically speaking. Maybe sell it... not sure still

I pulled my truck out for the first time in .........maybe a year....Found the license sticker I got for it last year and put it on ...... it expires at the end of this month LOL
I loaded it up and hauled 2 piles of my kids stuff out of my house. I can't do that with the Civic.
I really need to do some maintenance on it. I keep thinking the timing belt was last replaced around 1995. Original coolant hoses and whatnot too.
I just had some dude on a Harley wave or point at me on the way home. Tottally freaked me out.. I thought the truck was on fire or spewing fluid or something. Maybe bedliner f150 is some sort of HA symbol... I dunno. Still scratching my head as to what he was on about.
This weeks fun.... rusted out brake line over the gas tank. Soooo.... replace the front to back line , the flex hose, wheel cylinders, and lines from cylinders to flex hose. Fun fact where the line T's from the flex hose fitting to each of the rear cylinders one side is 3/8" and the other is 7/16" even though ALL of the brake line fittings are 3/8" EXCEPT that one. I asked the guy at the parts store why Ford would do that and he said in kind of a low voice, "It's a Ford thing."
