So I recently wrecked my civic I'm looking at the car in the title and i really like it. What are your thoughts on Volkswagens? Should I just buy another civic? I've also been looking for a miata!!! Hard to find a good one though...

Re: Should I? 2003 Volkswagen GTI VR6

I'm not a fan of German cars, VW mostely because they seem over complicated and not very reliable. They are some of the best "driver" cars which is why I would love to have a BMW M3. Here is a good article that I think provides a good perspective on German cars. Miatas seem to be reliable and fun to drive.

Yeah my friend had a fairly new audi (volkswagen group) and at 40,000 miles it was already burning a significant amount of oil. So reliability, not so good. however they do feel great on the road, i really like the vw group manual transmission. And yeah lets see pics!

Re: Should I? 2003 Volkswagen GTI VR6

of course it a standard transmission!! a buddy of mine just bought a supercharged pontiac! sounded awesome...automatic transmission
pics will be up soon but it's nothing special haha! looking to maybe put a k20a into it just for fun! but it's basically what the car is worth so i probably won't. looking at some Eibach sportline springs right now for her!! what do you guys have to say between the k series engines and b series? any fun and cheaper mods I can do? Oh and i was looking at those STP things. those fluids you just dump in your gas tank and magic things happen? do they even work or do anything for your car? i've heard taking out your oil and dumping some radiator fluid in cleans it out really good! (as long as it is followed by valvoline )

Re: Should I? 2003 Volkswagen GTI VR6

i was looking at a mk 3 gti a while back. i really wanted one but my buddy who is a huge vw guy advised me not too because they rust from the inside out and very quickly, and this buddy just built a 67 beetle from frame and bought every individual part for it in just 2 weeks so he deals with rust all the time.

not to mention the horrid electrical system.

if your modifying it id say dont buy unless you know people in volkswagen audi groups that you can get advise from when stuff breaks. it WILL happen.

if keeping stock their nice cars. im now thinking about a mk 4 gti and keeping her bone stock for a dd while i do an itr swap in my hatch.
