Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
Hello everyone
I am about to buy me my first car.
Ever since i can remember i have always been fascinated with civics.
But i am having problems choosing from and EX OR AND SI.
From what i understand the SI is just a better replica of and EX
in terms of engine and performance etc.
I just want to know if they both have the EXACT factory body shape.
I would also like to know which color models where factory made with MANUAL TRANSMISSION and REAR SPOILERS included.

Re: Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
The 2000 civic ex has a single cam d16y8 engine making 127 hp (95 kW) at 6,600 rpm, where the 2000 civic si has a dual cam b16a2 engine making 160 hp ( 120 kW) at 8000 RPM.
The exterior changes from LX/EX models are different, with the Si trim featuring a lower-profile and wider 15-inch wheel/tire package, a subtle chin-spoiler, side sills, and Si badging.
As far as the colors go for 2000 models: Electron Blue Pearl, Flamenco Black Pearl, Milano Red (Si coupe), Iced Teal Pearl (sedan), Clover Green Pearl (coupe and sedan), Taffeta White (coupe and sedan), New Vogue Silver Metallic (coupe), Roma Red (hatch), Vintage Plum Pearl (sedan) and Titanium Metallic (sedan).
I'm pretty sure the spoiler was optional on all of the 2000 models.
& all civic si's have a manual transmission.

Re: Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
So does that mean that both EX COUPE AND SI COUPE are the same exact exterior but the SI has a few upgrades on it?
Which means that i could make and SI look like and EX or vice versa?
Reason i am asking is because the SI and the EX look identical in pictures
and i have only seen the EX coupe in person but not and SI coupe.
I really like the exterior on the EX coupe but (LIKE YOU STATED) have heard that the SI is better in performance.
I would get And SI Coupe if it looked like and EX Coupe body/exterior wise or if i could have the option to change it to and EX Coupe exterior.
BTW thanks for the reply i really appreciate.

Re: Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
Why would you want to make an si look like an ex? The si looks more aggressive in my opinion. Everything about the si is an upgrade from the ex. Interior, exterior, and performance. Heres a side shot of my 2000 civic si.
Re: Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
I don't want to make the SI look like and EX.
As a matter of fact the SI looks great!.
Especially does two SI's you guys posted...
They look SWEET =D
I'm asking these questions for learning purposes.
I have seen EX's that look just like SI's maybe
because they have gotten modified to look just like and SI (I DON'T KNOW)
Which is why i had been confused about which one to buy.
The few that i have seen have identical exteriors.
Maybe the SI does look better or maybe i have seen
SI's and thought they where EX's.
I am not trying to diss neither model
I just don't have and idea of the exterior differences
so i am guessing that EX's and SI's have similar structures
in order to be able to modify and EX's to look similar to and SI exterior.
I am able to tell EX's apart from other civic models all for except the SI's
So my one and only question is.... Why do i see similarities with these two models at glance?
Is it because and EX could be modified to look just like and SI? which would mean that the EX has the same dimension as and SI?
This is what i want to understand.

Re: Civic Coupe 2000 SI-EX Differences
Yes, the EX can be modeled to look like the SI. The exterior body parts are all interchangeable for the most part between the 6th gen civics. A lot of people who dont have Si's will collect the body parts over time and put them on after they have everything. It all depends on what route you wanna go. My first civic was a 97' EX.

Yeah. That white is to die for. I'm glad I have black though. It doesn't stand out as much. I always wanted mine in blue, but I sometimes get caught in sticky situations and the blue would make it much worse.
