Rep Power: 0 PORT & POLISH/BORE THROTTLE BODY
2 QUESTIONS...
has anyone done the port and polish to there engine? And what kind of increase have they felt.
And has anyones bored out there throttle body...and if so...any major increase on that.
Cuz i mean these both produce decent horsepower increases...and i would have thaught someone would have done this by now.
Port Polish-30-40HP? $$-800-1200
Bore Throttle-15HP? $$-200-400

What do you want to port and polish? If your talking about your Head them maybe I'd pay $1000. If your going to bore out your throttle body then you will then want to port and polish your intake manifold $200 or else you'll just be moving your bottle-neck when you can have it one size all the way through....

Rep Power: 0 let me fix your HP gain figures. This is for a 2k1 civic with I/H/E already.
P n P = 5 Hp
Larget TB = 1-2 Hp
prices vary, but thats about right for average stuff.

Rep Power: 394 20hp - 30hp is a very high estimate. Joe's 5hp estimate is a little low. I'de say around 5hp - 10hp MAX. More pronounced if you have other mods, like a turbo.

Rep Power: 0 You will need more fuel to your engine (hince on the grude package injectors a) or else you will be burning to lean (or rich i get them confused)
you will be gettin more air and just a lil more fuel so with a fuel improvement you should be get your A/F ratio back to around the same but you will be burnin more gas
If im wrong someone let me know all this is just my $.02

Rep Power: 0 The 5hp figure is based on DC Sports products. It isn't relevant to other manufacturers and other combinations. I would say a good combo of i/e/h should net an increase of 8-10. You also have the option of a pulley set. I don't know about the gude package. They claim 45hp but we don't have any dyno runs to confirm this. Imo, for 1600 bucks, the package would probably increase the hp to be more than worth it. I could cough up the money for the package, but the clutch will definately need to be upgraded as well. Thus, the gude package would really come out to be around 3k with labor and all. Hopefully, someone will try it out for the rest of us soon.

Rep Power: 0 first of all gude make a crappy product. Ive and a lot of experience with that company, and even the parts that have been around for years (ie parts for older gen civics and other non honda makes) are at the LEAST, of low quality build (not to mention the lack of quality tec serivce and support). As for their performance numbers, ive been over this again and again. You cant trust a "claimed" Hp figure just like that. They can, and will, skew the numbers just as bas as any poll or survey figures you may find in any magazine or study. Take for instance the Vortech supercharger kit for my car. They claim over 280 WHP with it installed. What they didnt tell you was that not only did you have to have their SC kit installed (which is the ONLY thing they were advertizing with that power number) you also had to have I/H/E, a VAFC, a 10PSI pully upgrade for the SC it self, as well as a butt load of dyno tuning, putting the cost from 3500 bucks to over 5K.. all to get their "claimed" hp figures. Independent dynos pulled no more then 215 Hp with a stock PSI vortech SC and I/H/E on the 99-00 Si.
That being said, I can take a 50 shot nitrous set up for 500 bucks, and beat the crap out of that gude equiped $1600 upgrade.

Rep Power: 0 A caveat for the people who are going to do a port and polish:
Make sure you know exactly what you want out of your car (turbo application or all motor or whatnot), and make sure the person who does it knows what they're doing. Messing with Honda engine heads is a delicate art; there are a zillion ways to port and polish a head, and if they do it incorrectly you could just as easily lose power instead of gaining power. Just my 2 cents.
