FORGET THE SEARCH BUTTON AND READ!!!!!

I just have to vent about this, this is the LONE forum where people bring up the search button over and over and OVER again! I realize that some noobies have questions and yes they SHOULD have searched the forum before they posted but come on, isn't this what a FORUM is all about LEARNING? I think sometimes people flame others about the search button just because they have NO idea themselves on the subject at hand. I myself always search before posting but you know what ALL the searching in the world can sometimes lead to no answer at all. So just as a heads up be nice to one another and don't post JUST to say use the search button. There is nothing like searching through pages of "use the search". Sometimes new things come up on subjects and have to be reanswred. Let the posts be nice and GOD stop saying use the search button it DOES NOT SOLVE ALL!!!!

MY .02 THROWN AT ALL THAT SAY USE THE SEARCH!

Yeah... it's a nice suggestion...

But I doubt everyone's gonna change their attitude towards nooBs.

This place is about learning... everytime some nooB posts in the GR forum asking about ball bearing turbos or superchargers... we tell them to search... that's how they learn. It depends on who reaches the thread first. Sometimes that person may get help, but all in all, the learning process is a teaching process, too... and it's gonna always happen, so we teach'em how to search. We may flame, but hell... teachers are tired of teachin the same damn thing to prevent the same thing from happening again. Put it like this... if you wanna be nice... that's good. But no one's obligated to be nice out of frustration from nooBs.

In fact... was there not a SEARCH thread at the top of the GR forums by PimpDakota? When it was up there, I could've sworn that the flames cooled down.

... when i was a noob i got so many "use search" but listen i understand SOME people in here say use search because the topics that are asked are the same topics talked about like few weeks ago. don't let this bother u. i guess its something we all go thru as a noob. but there are some threads that must be searched.. like which is better "SRI or CAI" .. we all know this question gets asked like once a week. anyways like i said don't let it get to u.

my thoughts exactly CivicTypeR01. the search function on this board is not the best by all means; frankly, i dont mind seeing the same questions asked over and over again bc there are always instances where useful info might be gleened- even from the most mundane of questions.

It's a flame that has it's moments, of course it's use is total overkill on this site. But there are moments when you just ask yourself "WHY!!???" and it's those special kodak moments when the giant inferno comes out to play.

Well the search is not perfect... it only searches titles, I believe, right? if you look at the Website forum, in the future that there may be an enhanced search where the body of messages are also being searched/indexed... which will definitely help and you'll hear a lot less "I've search but found nothing"

I must admit that of all the forums I visit, this one seems to have 10x as many people who go "use the search" than any other forum....

Nah... search up "port" for port and polish... whatever has port in the title will come up first... then you'll get hella other random threads that have the word "port" in it... whether it's import or deport.

This is the only forum where they flame people for not searching. I could swear that a lot of members just read to see if they can be the first to say "use the search!" It's like a group of idiots, "Oooh! ooh! use the search!use the search!" Everyone on here has some desire to improve their car, so if you don't feel the need to impart with some of your knowledge for the benefit of others, at least shut up and let other people learn. I've learned to ignore it for the most part. It's not all bad, if it was I wouldn't be on here.
