differences in domestic markets

i know this seems like a strange thread but being from Ireland im curious to know and the different hondas you have in the U.S. and Canadian markets as opposed to us here as im getting confused hearing si all the time as we have none.

Our common cars here would be (concentrating on civic and integra)
5th gen: eg civics
eg3 1.3 carbureted engine 3dr hatch
eg4 d15b sohc vtec engine '' ''
eg5 d16z6 sohc vtec engine '' ''
eg6 sir B16a dohc vtec engine mostly imports but did come in the country with a vti engine b16a2 dohc vtec. 3dr hatch
eg7 1.4 sohc non vtec 4dr saloon
eg8 d15b sohc vtec 4dr hatch
eg9 sir (same engine as eg6) 4dr saloon

eh9 (same engine as eg5) 4dr saloon

ej 1.6 lsi engine coupe version
ej9 1.4 injected engine 3dr hatch

6th generation
ek2 1.4 injected hatch back
ek3 1.5 3 stage vtec 3dr hatch
ek4 sir b16a 3dr hatch
ek4 saloon
ek9 b16b type r civic
em1 coupe b16a2 dohc vtec 2dr coupe
dc1 integra came with a few engine choices 1.6 lsi or 1.6 sohc vtec 1.8 sir engine (b18c4)
dc2 integra type r b18c r most didnt have a number after letter as they are jap imports but uk spec is b18c6 afaik.
then in 98 the jap spec was improved with bigger brakes a 4.785 fd in the s80 gearbox etc etc

7th generation
ep2 1.6 sohc ivtec system
ep3 type r k20a2

dc5 integra type r

not very up to date on the newer models as we dont see many around but we do have the fn and fd2 type r here aswel
thought id throw this up get an idea of what you have over there

Re: differences in domestic markets

We have no Type R's in America, that's for sure.I don't know too much of the Civics for 7th gen,but all I know is we had EM1 for 6th gen.For 7th gen,we had the EP3 hatch,EM2 coupes, and ES1 or ES2 sedans. For 8th gen, there was the FG2/FG1 coupe and FA5?FA1 sedan.I don't know the chassis codes of the latest gen we have, but I can tell you we'll have a new Civic by the end of next year. The 9th gen was pretty bad,so there's news that Honda is revamping the Civic and is set to release it next April

Re: differences in domestic markets

The only car available in the Canada and the US that matched the performance of the Hondas sold in the UK/E/AU/JD markets was the DC2-R, aside from that we were given the lower performance models. Not only that, but our base models aren't even as nice, UK 7th gens have rear discs for example, where we only have drums. Canada got the Acura EL and some nice little touches on Del-Sols and DC2s, so we faired slightly better than the US..

There was never a Civic Type-R available and the highest model RSX we had access to is the Type-S. Also, no 3 stage sohc vtecs..

Re: differences in domestic markets

Well I guess we don't have a big enough market to sell Type R's.I mean there's a whole bunch of us that dream to own one,but would we really spend $30,000+ to get it?I wouldn't personally.$30,000+ is too much for a Civic, even a Type R

Re: differences in domestic markets

ya uk dc2 is also bug eye model but they actually really not that common here we have way more jap spec dc2 type r than uk spec nobody likes the bug eye model what we do here is get the jap spec models take the 98 spec s80 gearbox and take the 4th and 5th out of the 96 spec s80 stick them into the 98 spec box with the lsd and 4.785fd there you have one of the best gearboxes for acceleration you get for a b18c engine. we more into rallying here and need acceleration for comin out of bends as we dont have the roads for drag racing. roads here are terrible narrow, winding, and full of hills, bumps and pot holes. hence the reason why we dont use anything bigger than 16" wheels plus any bigger than that on hondas and you mess with the suspension and tracking.

Anyway back to topic seems like you got the raw deal in the cars in your market but you have so much choice over there for modification parts and your prices are so much better on mods.

whats the spec of the si civic over there we dont have any we have sir and esi but not si.

Well the 6th gen Si had a B16A2 engine producing 160hp.The 7th Gen Si had a K20A3 also producing 160.The 7th Gen Si was an EP3 hatch. The 8th gen used a K20AZ3 engine that produced just under 200.It was available as the FG2 coupe or FA5 sedan.9th gen Si came with a K24 producing 201hp,also available as a coupe or sedan.None of
